One thing I'd love to know is, where did the Hately go home factor talk start from?
From what I can gather, he's a very mature kid, that was well aware and comfortable with going interstate if thats the way it fell for him on draft night. From the draft videos and interviews I've seen, he and his family were pretty stoked with him going to GWS, and his mothers side have a lot of family in Canberra/Sydney.
I also think he would've known from day dot that there was the likelihood that he would play majority of his time in the twos this year due to the strength of the GWS side and midfield. He's shown from his two games this year that he can match it at the top level, and that taste would've given him and the coaches points for him to work on back in the NEAFL, where he has gone to another level the last 5-6 games.
Idk, I just feel everyone has sort of gone early on the go-home factor for Hately.
However, I could be wrong obviously, and we see him head back to SA on the next plane out of there.

great insight and information
agree totally that families would be stoked that their kids got drafted , we do have modern communication in the world now to stay in touch.
I know when the Swans were after Walker , they told his parents anytime they needed to fly to Sydney to see him just phone the club and a flight would be booked
