Thanks mate ... looks like quite the logistical exercise!

I'm surprised they don't show a higher percentage of the day's play on the telecast. Would be fairly cheap to produce an extra two hours (say) and I reckon people would watch. I guess it means what we do see should be pretty high quality.

Mentioned on the broadcast that they are on track to record the highest number of participants and this year they have extended the time to register/start as they mentioned that players can start on Day 2B/C.

Also is broadcast on Poker Go but unsure whether that is the same as ESPN, different or majority of the action.

An interesting fact regarding the broadcast on ESPN is that they operate on a 30 minute delay.

I’ve been busy this week so it was a last minute thing. It seems pretty simple. 8 trades it seems with the credit points system

Yes that was my interpretation. With only 8 trades for 21 stages you have to reserve them for withdrawals and absolute duds. Not really designed to managing your team for each stage. I am fine with that.

Well, I'm going the name-drops today.

I met Warney at the Main Event in 2014 on one of the breaks between play. I don't smoke but I was with some mates who do so we were outside and sure enough Warney was smoking like a chimney; I'm fairly sure he was still being paid by Nicorette at the time to flog their chewy.

He went to school in Mentone a few hundred metres from where I was in the same year. Luke Beveridge was at the school I was at in the same class as well.

Warney was as good a bowler as he is bad at poker. Despite the coaching he's got from world-class players I'm not sure he's improved that much, if at all, over the years at cards.

Having said all that even the best players in the world bust on day one of the Main, there's even great players who have never even made it past day one due to the variance (ie luck) involved in the whole thing.

I used to be friends with Warney. He even got us into the changing rooms after the days play one Boxing Day test. The less I say about him now, the better, unfortunately.

10 BB = 10 big blinds. Its your stack depth. Calling/folding certain hands in tournament poker is a function of stack depth. So, for example, calling a shove with Q6o with 2 BB behind while you are the big blind is totally fine. Calling a 10 BB shove with that hand is terrible play.

Also an interesting fact was that he just returned from visiting Machu Picchu and the Galápagos Islands as he missed out on a portion of the 2019 WSOP events.

Can't help but feel the bigger the "persona" ... the more wannabes that will want to hang their hook on taking them down ... makes it so much harder from an outsiders view ...

I think it can potentially go either way if others have an irrational desire to beat you? Early on or when you're short stacked it could add to the risk of being eliminated, but I think it could also help build a stack more quickly if people are placing bad bets in the hope of having a story to tell.

Also this year marks the 30th anniversary since his 1989 Main Event Win at the age of 24. Quite outstanding to see the comparisons between the participants and 1st place prize between now and then.

1989- 178 participants and $755,000 for 1st
2019- 8569 participants and $10,000,000 for 1st

In regards to his record it is usually glossed over due to his antics.

Whilst disappointed with his early departure he’ll likely feature on the commentary team/break desk along with Negreanu for the remainder of the tournament and final table as it’s a great feature to receive their insight or strategy in relation to hands/etc.
