Well, I'm going the name-drops today.
I met Warney at the Main Event in 2014 on one of the breaks between play. I don't smoke but I was with some mates who do so we were outside and sure enough Warney was smoking like a chimney; I'm fairly sure he was still being paid by Nicorette at the time to flog their chewy.
He went to school in Mentone a few hundred metres from where I was in the same year. Luke Beveridge was at the school I was at in the same class as well.
Warney was as good a bowler as he is bad at poker. Despite the coaching he's got from world-class players I'm not sure he's improved that much, if at all, over the years at cards.
Having said all that even the best players in the world bust on day one of the Main, there's even great players who have never even made it past day one due to the variance (ie luck) involved in the whole thing.
