England will cause more problems with Archer in the team next test. Extra pace and bounce provides something a bit different. Broad still bowls well, but he’s not quite the pacy fella he used to be. If Anderson is out, don’t be surprised if we struggle next test if there’s something in the wicket again.

Alternatively, they drop Ali because he’s been quite useless for them in conditions that are meant to suit.

Keen to see how Archer adjusts to Test cricket.

Lose a bowler and the rest often team to the conservative side after the initial new ball. Throw up a part timer with a little jazz and it looks good.

You may be on to something. He has had 4 scores in the 140s and 2 in the 190s. Really struggles achieving those post century milestones.

The weakness smith has is vs taller bowlers whose natural length is that awkward non driveable length where you don’t know whether to rock forward or back.

Steven Finn had a decent amount of success against him despite his shortcomings as a bowler. Archer being in the same mould will definitely ask questions, especially at Lords.

Goes back to his early grade days where he was easily the youngest in the Sutherland team. Don’t know why, but would say it’s to do with his age.
