surprised they have announced it today

Starc to play

expecting a lot of rain , might be lucky to get 3 full days
Might be all that’s needed if the pitch has something in it. Love watching the Lords test, always seems to have an extra bit of theatre about it.

Shame the rain is hindering the start of play.

Finn was 1.98

Archer is 1.82
Forgot to reply to this last week. Archer's actually 1.88. Not quite as tall a bowler, but because of his action/arm position, he is similar to Finn and Morne Morkel (whom Smith had an average record against). I'll be very interested to see how he combats him in this test. Feel like Warner will come out firing this time around.

Got about a 50/50 split from the sources I’ve seen. I’d err on the side of being taller though given he played for the WI 19’s and they generally enter their heights/weights at that age.

I can tell you right now that there’s no way he still weighs 70kg’s as a 24yo unless he has some freakishly skinny legs.

split the difference and say 185

188 , 185 or 182 still shorter than I imagined

think the great Marshall was only 180 , geez I still remember every ball he bowled at Rixon in the final over of the day at Adelaide Oval , every ball got faster and faster.

fastest over I have seen live

Dujon would have been standing 50-60 metres back , unreal

Yeah, I expected him to be at least 190. Doesn’t matter though, as the best fast bowlers have strong cores which aid them in getting through their action consistently.

It’s why Glenn McGrath was so durable as he trained his backside off with the same fitness trainer for 10+ years working on his durability. Something that cricket nsw and cricket Australia should be taking advantage of.

are they still on their 24 balls a training session maximum.

I know there is more cricket these days but you go back to Lillee , Lawson etc and they say the best form of training was to actually play......tests , shield , or replicate match conditions at training , I think it was Lawson who would go to a park & bowl 6 balls , walk down to fine leg for 3-4 minutes , bowl again , rest , rinse & repeat.

Talk that Curran comes in for Denly so they can unleash Archer in shirt , sharp bursts

Roy an average shot there to a fairly innocuous delivery. If he fails 2nd dig I wonder if they’ll drop him.

He doesn’t seem to have the skill set to be successful in red ball cricket at the top. Would probably slide him down and put a proper opener in. That said, England’s dearth of opening bats probably means he plays the whole series there.

Good ploy by the Aussies, bring Siddle in, goes for 13, poms get complacent and Hazlewood rips one onto the pads.
Seemed like Siddle was dealing with soreness from last test. :p

Fair delivery that one too. Good to have their best bat out early. Hope we can find a way to remove burns soon, he seems very annoying to bowl to.

He's got an awkward stance, I haven't seen too much of him. The pitch isn't doing too much, so hopefully they can snag a couple more wickets early before they get set.

He’s very good at playing the ball under his eyes. I’d like to see them try something a little different by going short or even getting Lyon on to try and exploit the hill.
