First, the Hun aims to offer something of interest to appeal to as many as possible. They run a comp designed to appeal to the masses. If I were less kind I would say aimed at the LCD (lowest common denominator) of those with a passing interest in the afl. They do not want to make SC more complicated, if anything they want to make it less complicated.

Second, we could easily be described as the "geeks" of SC participants. Perhaps, the more complicated the game, the more we are interested. But we are limited numerically.

These two positions are diametrically opposed. They are unlikely to intersect. I suggest you think of ways to make SC rules even more simple but increasing the reward for research.

I totally agree. I was just throwing the idea out there knowing full well it would make the game more complicated and therefore less appealing to attract large numbers.

It’s hard to think how to make it simpler and still reward more strategic players. Maybe keep as is but have price changes incorporating ownership % changes in conjunction with recent scores. More researched participants would jump on/off players more quickly, thus benefit more from price fluctuations?

I like Laird, Byrne-Jones and Docherty as a back 3, potentially just Byrne-Jones and Docherty if there's a lot of good rookie defenders.

Whitfield, Dusty, Greene and Devon Smith look like the ideal forwards.

We are miles away but they are my early thoughts.

I guess the one way they could make the game 'easier' (and perhaps more boring) would be to scrap positions altogether, including for the bench. So you could be trying to build the highest scoring team possible. Still have a salary cap limit though.
Reading it, that might ruin the game for me.

Did his role change through the year? His scoring seemed to pick up a fair bit but it’s not overly evident in clearance numbers that it was a midfield move, for example.

Edit: maybe it was a move to the wing? Almost no scoring shots but a lot more inside 50s and uncontested possessions this year.

After the bye he recorded 7 of 11 matches with 25 or more disposals in comparison to 11 from his previous 75 matches.

Based on the last few rounds where they played him back and Ceglar in the ruck - it will. He was looking a decent value pick for a while, but I wouldn't consider him now in SC.

According to his heat maps he definitely had a few games later in the season predominantly on the wing but he also had a number of games where it looked like he played predominantly at half back, maybe with some wing time, but it looks like he's playing very attacking off half-back, much like Zac Williams. He scored well in both of these roles.

Watching every Port game on TV definitely played majority on the wing for the last two thirds of the season , maybe sharing 1 side with Duursma ,? or had his own wing once Westhoff went back.

They also were rotating Ring a ring on a wing later in the season as well.

Really? He’s classified as a general defender so he can’t have spent more than 35% on the wing for the year. I always saw him playing by drifting off half back and everybody calls him a defender, maybe I’m wrong.

Actually I got one thing wrong you can’t be classified DEF-MID by champion Data so he might have spent between 35-50% of time there on the wing

Played mostly off half back mate, like you said had a bit of a license to push up a bit though later in the year. Signed a 3 year extension today, expecting big things from him next year.
