First, the Hun aims to offer something of interest to appeal to as many as possible. They run a comp designed to appeal to the masses. If I were less kind I would say aimed at the LCD (lowest common denominator) of those with a passing interest in the afl. They do not want to make SC more complicated, if anything they want to make it less complicated.
Second, we could easily be described as the "geeks" of SC participants. Perhaps, the more complicated the game, the more we are interested. But we are limited numerically.
These two positions are diametrically opposed. They are unlikely to intersect. I suggest you think of ways to make SC rules even more simple but increasing the reward for research.
