Russell could (should) be closer to Stoinis & Short's price rather than Smudge & ABD.

Missed a fair chunk of the CPL so not sure how fit he is , WI domestic 50 over competition is on , not sure if he is playing in that or not.
yeah I had forgotten about the WI schedule, but I know he just played the entirety of the T10 tournament and was both batting and bowling in that

Cutts .. 1 -2 overs ... mmm
Possibly 2-3 ? maybe

Think in T20 for the Heat he is a Top 6 Bat who is their 6th bowling option , Laughlin should have a big impact for their attack & depends if Patto is in the Test team or not.

might be the case where :-

2 x 4
4 x 3

Boof is very shrewd and tactical , so they could bowl a lot more front end , middle , back end and match ups more against different teams , especially when ABD is there as I am not convinced on Lynn's tactical nous at all.

T20 bowling is getting more and more different options & varieties now to mix it up , plans every over etc etc

that probably explains why he didn't play their domestic 50 over then which in the past would mean they won't pick him for the India & Ireland series although they have been trying to get the "T20 bats for hire" back in the National team over the last 12 months.

Personally I think

Lalor
Laughlin
Patto & Steketee 1 game each
Zahir
Swepson

Cutting will bowl 1-2 , Renshaw might bowl as well.
Yikes. I was thinking that Patto would be unavailable for both of the Heat’s round 1 DG’s. I’ve picked Steketee expecting he will play both games but now I’m not so sure.

I just assumed Patto would be unavailable for the entire duration of the NZ tests. Perhaps not?

Haven’t really seen M.Short’s name pop up. Is he a good one to sneak on the bench for his two DGRs early on?

Seems like he’ll bat 4 or 5 and might bowl 2 overs as the second spinner in the XI? Only 73k as well but a Batter only.

It’s unknown whether he even gets a game, they have short, white, wells and Lehmann to fill #4, #5 and #6 in the line up, he might play, he might not, it’s also not out of the question That they play valente, Nielsen or an extra bowler like O’Connor and if he does play it’s also unknown if he bowls. Really hard to start with those unknowns, maybe wait until they have their double game and by then you’ll know if he’s playing and bowling

Cheers,

When does Mujeeb arrive?
https://www.news.com.au/sport/crick...t/news-story/05ed291fc8f4cec3f0cb3d1d3d885a4d

Mujeeb was selected in this week’s Bangladesh Premier League draft by Cumilla Warriors and is expected to join the Heat for the last six rounds of the BBL.

The 18-year-old took 12 wickets in his maiden BBL campaign and had the best economy rate (6.04) of any bowler who took more than 10 wickets.

The Bangladesh Premier League runs until mid-January and Mujeeb is expected to be available for the last six matches of the BBL.

Mujeeb could play his first game of BBL09 in Round 9, when the Heat hosts Adelaide Strikers at the Gabba on January 14.

If Morris misses the first game only he still looks good value and a potential POD. Do you play him or take a punt on
C.Green off your bench?
I think if he misses the first game, you just pick somebody else who is playing both games of the DGR. Switching him to Banton or Hales could be an option as it won’t require any other changes to your team.

My thinking was that they would release him for the game on the 17th then he would rejoin the camp in Melbourne on the 18th or 19th.

CA was pretty good last season with media releases on releasing Squad members so hopefully we get enough warning.

Obviously I have no inside info either so could be off track , this new concussion substitute rule may mean the 12th - 13th man stay with the team for the whole duration.

Good points B.B. I have Banton already. I hope something eventuates in the next 20 days so that I don't have to go the Hales
option as I do not rate him much. He is overdue though.

great insight into the Strikers lineup.

If Head doesn't make runs in Adelaide and Perth he may further complicate things ?

Personally think they got the Bear for a reason , Wells won't miss out so the last spot will be down to all those you mentioned.

IF Neser is still around the Test Squad they may prefer the 6th specialist bowler (eg O'Connor/Valente) to compliment Agar & Conway.

Well I reckon we will have a fair idea of Morris’ availability by tomorrow morning. His team is playing 2nd on the ladder and if they win they will go 8 points clear on top of the ladder and just about guaranteed a spot in the final.

Think I will still start him , depends on how many Scorchers/Strikers you have to start and how many you are bringing in for their DWG , especially Week 3 when they and the Sixers have the DWG , I doubt I will bench Morris that round either.

Think he is a season long keeper , so my start side will be 4 Sixers , Morris , 3 Heat , 3 Thunder with Big Billy & Green on my bowling bench.

Hopefully we see Green at the bowling crease before Big Bash starts otherwise he is just another 4-6 batsmen.

I currently have Hales but may look at another Thunder option.

Hopefully the Renegades will confirm the Nabi situation sooner rather than later.

Hope they take a punt on Karim Janat.
