Feeling slightly more settled now, though the Chris Morris situation still has me a bit shaky...

I feel like I need a third Thunder player just in case, but I'm asking myself the question "who do I back ahead of Marsh or Qais?" and not really coming up with any answers.

Also contemplating turning Curran into Abbott or SOK, which I'll probably agonise over until five minutes before the start and pick wrong anyway.

would recommend looking as harris or peirson for cartwright as he is going to bat too low at the stars and look to go from qais to abbott

new cheapie signing that is very useful also likely to play
is he ahead of Moody/Boland/Rogers(possibly injured)/Summers as the third pace option though ?

Assuming Rose/Freeman partners Qais , Short & Milenko to be extra bowling options.

should be basement priced though

What's the situation with Clive Rose this season ? Always thought he was handy Big Bash player.

Do they trust Freeman as the second spinner with Qais (backed up by Short) + Faulkner & Meredith with one of Moody/Boland/Rogers/Summers.

Interested in your thoughts.
never mind , Rose is back

great insight into the Strikers lineup.

If Head doesn't make runs in Adelaide and Perth he may further complicate things ?

Personally think they got the Bear for a reason , Wells won't miss out so the last spot will be down to all those you mentioned.

IF Neser is still around the Test Squad they may prefer the 6th specialist bowler (eg O'Connor/Valente) to compliment Agar & Conway.
Thanks mate, yeah I agree with you, gut feel is Lehmann misses out and short gets the spot, but this is just speculation. See the last bowling spot coming down to either agar or Conway, but on recent form you’d think agar is ahead, but both could play or valente of O’Connor if Neser misses like you said.

Have been scared off Cutting after the inclusion of Laughlin into the squad. A lot of cutting’s appeal was the fact he was likely to bowl at the death. With Laughlin and Lalor big chances to both be played, it takes that extra value from Cutting as they are both death bowlers.

Likely over distribution for Heat likely to be:

Lalor 4
Laughlin 4
Khan 4
Pattinson/Steketee 4

There’s 16 overs and you then have Swepson, Kuhnemann, Prestwidge, Renshaw,
Cutting and even Labuschagne (when he’s not playing tests) that potentially send overs down.

If the lineup isn’t batsman heavy, then you assume cutting bowls 1-2 max, if it is batsman heavy then he bowls 2-4 overs. Round 1 lineup will be extremely important to watch for and thankfully they are first game up.

Yep, basically if Heazlett plays round 1, I find a way to get Cutting in.

Is that alongside Renshaw or either or.

I guess they could line up with Peirson at 7 + 4 specialist Bowlers.

I gather Banton , Bryant , Lynn & Cutting are locks + Heazlett & Renshaw seems lopsided to me.

Think they will go 5 specialist Bowlers myself.

Teams must be announced soon ?

Yep, that’s alongside Renshaw who I think will almost certainly play round 1.

When we look at the above, its pretty easy to see the Heat opting for an extra bat over the extra bowling option as their tail is quite weak if Pattinson doesn't play. Pretty confident we'll see Cutting/Renshaw combining for 4+ overs throughout the season.

I don't think Lalor is a lock. Yes, he had a good year last year - but he's not in the same league as the other bowlers in that side. I think he'll be left out.

I'm not sure about how salary cap works. Since Archer is unavailable for the entirety of the tournament, does that mean his contract space is freed up on the salary cap?

He's been the beneficiary of the Heat having poor bowling stocks for sure, but even Laughlin isn't assured of a game given his age and form. Can only really see Swepson pushing one of the other bowlers out to give the Heat another specialist spin option, don't think they can justify subbing Lalor/Laughlin for Steketee or Prestwidge.

T20 game , how often do you want to rely on 7-11 to bat ?

No probs I am going to work on 6+5 and see how it pans out.

Think the more bowling options the better these days seems to be the trend depending on match ups so that will give them 7 , so lots of options if 1-2 get taken.
