He's been the beneficiary of the Heat having poor bowling stocks for sure, but even Laughlin isn't assured of a game given his age and form. Can only really see Swepson pushing one of the other bowlers out to give the Heat another specialist spin option, don't think they can justify subbing Lalor/Laughlin for Steketee or Prestwidge.
Is their any other fast bowlers in the pipeline likely to be signed up , Xavier Bartlett maybe ? is Cameron Gannon still classified as a local player ?

T20 game , how often do you want to rely on 7-11 to bat ?

No probs I am going to work on 6+5 and see how it pans out.

Think the more bowling options the better these days seems to be the trend depending on match ups so that will give them 7 , so lots of options if 1-2 get taken.
My lesson from last year is that any pure on field batsman I choose must be in positions 1 - 4 and not be "floatable" in the order ....
- Was going well until I selected Bails and McDermott ... the Canes openers just slayed it and left little scraps ...

So my question would be what position is Hales going to bat at ?.

1 or 2 depending on whether Khawaja is 2 or 1.

third most wickets in the Marsh cup is impressive and that is in One dayers and apart from Meredith their pace attack is missing the pure pace
another team I will need to monitor , was pretty much banking on Faulkner , Meredith , Boland , Qais & Rose.

based on 50 over wickets then Agar & Conway must be locks for the Strikers ?, wonder who misses out of Neser/Siddle/Stanlake

might have too many cheap options for the bench

He’s more medium fast, but that last spot in the hurricanes bowling unit is a bit of a merry-go-round so could change from game to game.

if they also only play qais and no second spinner he's a good chance.

Ok .. serious question ...

Is Laughlin still SC relevant and will the Gabba pitch suit him ...

- We all know how he bowls ... wide yorkers etc ... but is that so old school now ?

Well I have just looked at my stats for the Heat from last season and completely forgot about the sweepologist and how that would affect this season

Bryant 14
McCullum 14
Lynn 14
Cutting 14
Pierson 14
Renshaw 9/Burns 5
Ross 8/Heazlett 3/Labuschagne 1 + Steketee 2

* Ross actually shows as 9 games because of sub fielding points

so they essentially played 7 batsmen including Cutting in 12 out of 14 games

Mujeeb 12
Swepson 12
Lalor 11/Kuhnemann 3
Doggett 8/Patto 5
Prestwidge 5 is the balance

lesson learnt , leave the team analysis to the experts on here and await official selections each game

In regards to SC relevancy I’d assume very high due to his starting DGW, move to Brisbane, leading BBL wicket-taker of all time, astute bowler utilising numerous variations and bowling at the death.

If the Heat batters manage to bat first and fire (eg 180+) then this should bode well for Laughlin due to the opposition needing to chase down the large total thus likely leading to poor shot selection, mistimed shots, etc garnering wickets during the latter half of the innings.

I've put Ellis in my team for now and added weatherald. My bench is going to be Harris and Green with either ellis and weatherald or sutherland and stanlake
I will stick with :-

Pierson , Harris
Nevill
Stanlake , Rose

will wait to see if Green starts bowling and actually gets picked & waiting to see what the Renegades do with Nabi to see if Holland could be viable

Mmm ... stats from last year don't reflect that though ....44, 10, 43, 18, 26, 105, 38, 1, 24, 26, 108, 3 and 40.

Been around for a while ... doesn't really swing the willow ... multiple teams have let him go .... last chance saloon .... cheap for a reason ....

you only need him for the first 3 games though then trade him to a Scorcher or Striker.

left the Strikers due to family reasons , Boof has given him a 2 season contract so must still rate his ability at this level.

Lot easier to score 40 bowling points per game than 40 batting points.

Recorded his lowest SC avg in BBL08
BBL01: 42.5 from 8
BBL02: 74.9 from 8
BBL03: 63.2 from 9
BBL04: 54.1 from 9
BBL05: 48.3 from 9
BBL06: 59 from 7
BBL07: 52.8 from 12
BBL08: 38.8 from 13

As well as his lowest points received from bowling (33.2).

In BBL08 recorded 2 hauls of 3 wickets with 4 wickets from the remaining 11 matches for a grand total of 10.

Also, great in the field and from memory usually fielded at the hot spots during his tenure with the Strikers.

At his price range and bowler only eligibility he’s the best bowling value selection from the 3 opening DGW teams and should comfortably record around the 70 range with the potential to muster 150.

My preferred archetypal bowling selection as he historically boasts a good economy and strike rate thus usually compensating for each other (eg no wickets but good economy, wickets but poor economy or wickets and good economy).

Not too much downside associated with the selection as he can be easily traded to the likes of B Stanlake, J Weatherald, P Salt, etc assuming DPP’s are present and can be kept through and past his bye without severely impacting your line-up

Would Morris still play the second game of his DGR? Given his strong form he seems still worth it as a single game player to start and hold for the year.
