50-50 is not a bad hit rate with breakout picks. With that said, not one player outperformed expectations, even with Taranto having the opportunity for a lot of extra mid time due to teammates’ injuries.
And yet none of them broke out to keeper level. You wonder whether it was strategic to omit Dunkley - surely he was as good a breakout candidate as any?

It’s a good point - he would have been a popular pick to go to the next level for pretty clear reasons, and he performed extremely well. Maybe he was omitted because he’d already averaged 95, which was keeper level when he was forward eligible? Not sure.

The tweet regarding the 2018 series was his predicted breakouts and the article was from last pre-season so assuming J Dunkley was not a part of it and it was only limited to the quartet mentioned above.

Anyone considering not starting Jake Lloyd as his scores seemed to have a downturn with Jordan Dawson getting a role off half back. 4 scores in the eighties aren't terrible but maybe it's a sign of things to come - instead of a 110 type player maybe he reverts to a 98 or so?

I started without him and regretted it, not sure if I'll start him at this stage.

Haven't really thought about Lloyd but a player pretty much fully priced is either one you just take or you try to bring in later after a price drop... he is probably in second category for me as there are a couple of others I'd prefer to start with I think

Defenders are usually hard to pick. You just need to decide if you think he will be top 6 at the end of the season and if you are willing to pay whatever his starting price is.

I think he probably will be a top 6 defender or not far off again this year, but I need to see starting prices. Probably leaning towards the "wait for a price drop" for Lloyd too.

There's a handful of players that are top priced yet still you need to get. Early season Lloyd and Grundy are probably the two that come to find, whereas Dangerfield dropped pretty quickly.

It's picking right ones that is the $50000 question.

I'm really bullish on Jordan Dawson himself; the DPP spicing things up. Probably as D3 or F3 to begin with.
Very impressed by his ability to record a high avg whilst not being heavily reliant on amassing a large amount of the ball (2/20 matches with more than 25 disposals) thanks to averaging 3 tackles, approx 33% CPR and 75% DE.

Refer to Post 457 on Page 23 regarding J Dawson.

True but even in my premiums I always try to find value... obviously need a C/VC option but after that I'm not looking to spend top dollar on someone who will drop in price

I actually think it was your post that got me interested in him in the first place
