Oh, misunderstood then. Thought you had Dawson locked in.

I know a lot of better SC'ers than me here think Dawson is in for a good year, he seems to be in a lot of early teams, so I'd say he is one of the two for sure. Heeney or Houston for the other spot - I've already said I prefer Heeney.
Nah u understood the first time, I just changed my mind.... realized those three would occupy two spots and wasn’t hellbent on Dawson so posed the question again. Thanks for the response

Fyfe is one of my SC favorites and I think he’s one of the very best players in the comp (as I said this time last year) but at his new high price and with ongoing durability issues, personally he’s not even in my top 5 mid options. He’s an upgrade target for me.

I'd also be concerned about what he has said re: trying to focus on less bash and crash (at the stoppages?) to enhance his longevity.

Smack bang in the middle of the contest is where Fyfe racks up a significant proportion of his points quickly, so I would want to see a sample of what a "less bash and crash" version of Fyfe may look like before committing to him as a starter.

I guess my question should have been: pick two of Heeney, Houston and Dawson
Heeney and Dawson. Too much uncertainty about where Houston plays throughout the season, even if he starts in the midfield. Heeney scores well wherever he plays, and Dawson will definitely play half-back.

Do you think Dawson takes points from Lloyd this year?

Heeney for me. I expect he should be freed up for a lot more mid time this year. I don't see as much upside in Houston, but if you would rather not have two Sydney players, he is not the worst option.
I asked JPK this a couple of weeks back and he said he is already playing a lot of mids. His response surprised me, expect he is 55-60 mids currently. With Buddy back, he could go 75%. Looks a decent top 6 fwd (assuming he is mid/fwd).

Couldnt get a great take on the no.5 recruit, expect he said he is more an outside player (commentators I thought said he was an inside player).

Sicily v Laird

Hawthorn bringing in Frost and Patton should be good for sicily's scoring. Also Burchard leaving makes sicily more of a quaterback.

Laird's scoring is very consistent because he is a ball magnet. It's hard to work out if last year was a dip. Doedee in Keath out. Milera, Gibbs back, Brown. New coach. Probably play more kids?

Possibly biased in this one, but I prefer Sicily. Depends how much of a risk taker you are and how much variation you want from your score each week.

Laird is a lot of a safer bet and you know what you are getting every week - consistent 90-110 scores. I expect he'll probably be averaging slightly nearer the lower end of his range (95-100 ish), as I'm not sure about how good the Crows will be this year.

Sicily has a much larger range of scoring, sometimes role dependent, sometimes he just has shockers. These bad games seem to be getting less common now and barring injuries I would expect he spends a lot of time this season in his higher scoring defender role. He has a higher ceiling and lower floor on his scoring compared to Laird, expect to be frustrated with him at times if you do select him, but I'm expecting (hoping?) for an average in the 100-105 range (which will be inconsistent - 70 one week, 140 the next).

I'm pretty keen on Sicily (sc and real life) but fully expect him to get suspended for a couple of games for chucking a ball at an umpire when i need him most!

I might have to check out Lairds scoring when Adelaide lose. They look like they are in rebuild territory.

I basically agree with @Ironhawk's comments.

Would just flag that Laird only just turned 26! Already 5 years of premium scoring, but he's got a long way to go yet.

Out of interest, where do you get all of these averages / stats data from? Not going to attempt to take over your great stat posting work, as I know I couldn't, just wondering if it all comes from a website or it's a database / spreadsheet you keep for yourself. I always find them interesting and usually useful (especially for C/VC during the season).

SuperCoach averages and stats taken from footywire and usually inputted into a document and averages calculated using a Casio calculator. Yet to start utilising the same approach for previous seasons this season with the numerous fantasy competitions running, etc. Assume there is an easier and quicker way to efficiently complete all, but happy keeping the same setup.

Good stats and they sure make Lairds 108 season while Adelaide were winning and B.Smith was out seem like an outlier to me.

I think Laird will always be a solid pick while being their main distributer out of the backline and even if he pushes up the wing more as has been talked about this preseason, I just think people should not be expecting the 108 average, but I think if you pick him as a 95-100 type player, you won't be disappointed.
