Is it just me who is going anti- Grundy Gawn combo
I have ROB and Lycett with Cameron on the bench
When Gawn and Grundy are both fully fit they will average about 240 together at a price of 1.4m
ROB and Lycett will average around about 195 together at a price of 1.07m
I‘m willing to sacrifice 45 points for that 300k
and with that 300k I swapped out Daniher and henry who will average 120 together for brayshaw and greenwood who will average 170
I know that it is only 5 points but brayshaw, greenwood and lycett will go up in price

I don’t think the 5 points (if what you suggest does occur) is worth it. Grundy and Gawn are the two premium scorers in their lines and you’d need to get them eventually. None of the players you suggest are and all may needed to be traded. Have to factor in trade cost.

Best post thus far in this thread...:)

I've conveniently erased my login details for the meantime. Just going to enjoy watching the JLT games with my Rookies watchlist handy, along with my green highlighter. Once I have a sufficient list or when clubs announce their Rookie debutants leading into R1 (as they always do), I'll magically remember my login details and that's when the real team building will commence in earnest.

I've always aimed at this approach in previous years, however, this will be the year where I will execute on this.

Good luck with this Thanh. You are an addict, akin to giving up the smokes and the drink.

I’m quite concerned you had Daniher in the first place...

Every team needs a donut for captains loop right? If you like your donuts to have a few years experience in the AFL system and some games under their belt then I think Daniher is a great candidate.
Really think this could be his breakout donut year..

what are everyones expectations on Gawn?

has to play at least 1 practise game for me to start him but with starting him you couldn't have picked a worse ground for him to play round 1 on

He's back in my team :)

Melbourne GM of Football Josh Mahoney has provided an update on Max Gawn’s knee injury, which last week sent a shiver through the Demons camp momentarily.

The All-Australian ruckman will, thankfully, be back running as soon as next week.

“I was there at training and it was just part of a match simulation drill where he had a marking contest and landed awkwardly and came off straight away,” he told SEN Breakfast.

“The immediate diagnosis was that there was some medial damage, but obviously with his history we needed to do a check-up and we were really happy with the results and he’ll be back running around on Monday and possibly able to play a game in three or four weeks time.”

Didn't consider anything other than Grundy Gawn until Gawn's injury.

Anyone else tempted by Sam Jacobs priced at 65 / $350k if he looks fit and gets a solo ruck gig? Surely goes at least 85-90 in a strong team with one of the best midfields at his feet.

Could make $100-$200k and save $50-$100k on Gawn with a well timed trade. Maybe even some extra points if you wait until the byes.

He's wasn't as popular as Grundy before the injury so some coaches were already looking at alternatives. The threats to his scoring to me would be
1. NicNat: Takes points away from every ruck he plays. Round 1.
3. St Kilda: Two ruckmen can rotate and wear him down like Port Adelaide did last year. Round 4.
2. Witts : Because of his height he can take hit outs away from an opposition ruckman. Round 5.
4. Grundy: Round 12. Just before Gawn's bye.

Round 14 is probably too late to have one of the 2 best ruckman but round 7 or 8 might work.

Reilly Obrien got an armchair ride for match ups last year and it was great for everybody who had him.

Out of his 6 tonnes:
123 vs Freo versus Lobb (with no Sandilands and no Darcy)
104 vs Mumford
181 vs Chol & Balta (with no Nank and no Soldo)
120 vs Rhys Stanley
149 vs Zac Clarke (with no Bellchambers)
110 vs Andrew Phillips (with no Kreuzer)
He had two additional scores in the 90's, a 90 versus Witts and a 91 versus Vardy.

If it's not Gawn it's a toss up between Lycett and Nic Nat depending on the rest of preseason. I'll pick Gawn if he plays in a preseason game and seems fine.

I'm not sure you can try to hold a round 14 bye player til after Gawn's bye and get him in then, I think you're better off creating a better bye structure so you can get Gawn into your team earlier in the year or just so you can choose the player you think is best besides Gawn. It could be an issue if they share the bye with Gawn because thats a bad bye but if it's a round 12 player as long as you have enough players on field you're only losing about 40 points over the byes.
