@THCLT just looking the lists of players above and a few thought came to mind:

1. Serong - was a high pick and my understanding is that he is a likely midfield type with the following draft profile “Prolific ball winning small midfielder / fwd with his one touch marking overhead and clean hands at ground level features of his game” He is priced at $175k and its a bit of a concern that he may play up Fwd, but I’m surprised he is only in 5% of teams and also hasn’t really been discussed much around here. Is there something I’m missing here?
Too expensive given the quality of first and second year rookies (and fallen mid-pricers) on offer this year.

2. Schoenberg - Pick 24 Adelaide - “ Medium midfielder who wins the ball exceptionally well in traffic and is very creative, particularly by hand, using his elite decision making and vision to set up his teammates” . Not on your list above, but is he someone we should be adding to the watch list as well? (3%of teams)
I thought the knock on him was his tank and lacking a bit of speed? Not something that is likely to be fixed in his first pre-season and once again behind a number of second to fourth year players.

As an aside I don't think playing forward is necessarily a put off for a rookie mid if they have speed / agility and a nose for - a number of rookies proved to be solid cash cows and looping options deep into the season last year playing largely forward of the ball.

Just my likely somewhat uninformed $0.02...

I had Sier for a while last year and he was disappointing after similar pump up stories. They rate him but still behind Treloar, Sidebottom and Pendles I would have thought and probably Wills. Then it is a bit of a bunfight for the next mid rotation spot.

There is a gap created by Beams missing. Also I think Sidey may have moved more out of the CBs last season. I think if Sier shows good enough form to make the side, he should get decent CBs. Adams/Treloar probably the clear top 2, after that Pendles/Sidey but they seem more versatile so could be shuffled around to create a spot for Sier if he’s good enough.

From my somewhat limited knowledge of how Collingwood sets up (in terms of SC after Grundy wins the tap who cares where it goes haha?), I think Sier and Wills are competing for the last true inside mid spot. Whoever gets it will see some CBs...

Yeah, it looks a battle between Sier and Wills for that last spot and Wills is impressing at training too. The preseason games may give us a clue who might start, but a poor game and maybe that may change, hmmm, job security is the worry.

Only in 1.6% of sides atm (including mine). I think that number will shoot right up after a good preseason showing.

I've got him too and he was my first picked after the premos because I wanted to fit him in.

A ton of SC potential for a decent price there as an inside contested possession midfield bull who also has a burst of speed and the strength to ride or break through tackles (including multiple tacklers), even if he doesn't have other strings to his bow.

Where have you placed Sier ?

I currently have pencilled in Rowell , Anderson/Bonar & Pickett as my M6-M8 , so Sier at M5 might be one spot too high.

Currently have Hill & Young though at D5 & D6 , from reading a few articles doesn't appear likely that Starcevich , Williamson & Brander will be named Round 1.

Against all rules , I have the 8 popular mid pricers in my latest team until Round 1 teams drop and the picture is clearer.

I guess everything will come down to where the rookies are.

Sier M6, Rowell M7 for me.

I don’t have Bonar or Anderson but you can’t have them all. I think I will take three of Rowell, Sier, Young, Anderson and Bonar.

No Starcevich is interesting, he seemed to be talked up by quite a few. Spot there with Hodge finishing up.

I think Brander and Williamson may be on the cusp so agree with those assessments

Interesting with Starcevich , have read varying articles on him.

Some have Ah Chee or Birchall taking Hodgey's spot , CEY assumingly fits into the 22 somewhere as well.

Wait and see I guess.

Would like to have 5 mid premiums to start as well so Sier at M6 makes sense.

Good thing about Anderson & Bonar is they are priced the same so good to use as a starting point.

Just all a bit of a waiting game at the moment.

Williamson seems highly rated internally reading various footy boards - Played full intra club iirc - interesting if Teague rates him

Starcevich keeps getting praised by Zorko etc but where does he fit in? Does he kick Answerth out?

Brander another you keep hearing positive things about - keep hearing this wing role he is set for by Gaff etc

Rowell/Young/Hill/Pickett/Rankine/King are the only certainties at this stage IMO

I think our teams will really need Starcevich. There doesn’t seem to be many cheaper Def rookies with good JS. I’m relying on Starcevich D6 + two 117/123k rookies on bench (ie Gould, Rivers, McLennan types)

Hopefully Fagan will pick his team with SC in mind ?

Hence why I have just gone Hill & Young onfield in defence and just waiting , aside from those other 3 cheapies you named haven't come across too many other viable names at this stage.

Fingers crossed

Are rookies feeling thin this year or just like every year they will always pop up come round 1?

Feels a little thinner this year..
