I'd much prefer that than no Williams and we don't know whose spot he takes in RD2.
I'm not trying to be a prophet of doom because there are other options at the price point of Green and Ash.

They run so deep as we know and I assume Hately is the next in line? Ward is due back "in the first month" he reckons. We know Taranto is cactus for the first half of the season.

What he don't know is whether GWS are ready to push Green and/or Ash ahead of others which is possible. Or what other injuries could happen.

Like a lot of us my current squad has both Ash and Green.

I suppose a good thing about green and ash is the fact that the neafl is a pretty bad competition and theres no point wasting them in the neafl with ash getting 30 possessions every week and green getting 20 contested possessions every week

So not a single based priced mid rookie? Almost $600k on the bench. If you look back at the history of the expensive first year rookies you find the strike rate of averages over say 65 is not very high.
I do have Budarick as my DPP with Bonar and my other 5 rookies Fwd/Def are 123k or less. I'm leaving a little wriggle room but one of my main priorities is to have a very strong playing bench. Marsh 2 I hope will sort the chaff from the hay a bit more.

It's never worried Leon Cameron before but again if you go back to a best 22 who do we drop? People will say Langdon or Daniel's but they play a role. Reid very well may get a bench spot also so I see a spot for one only at this stage. Will be risky and have coaches pulling their hair out early in the season

You have raised a highly pertinent point "where's ya cash coming from?"

I too have that core group of highly priced Mids, couple of reasons, good scoring and hopefully no upgrades.

For the moment I have:

Hill....................D5
Oliver..............M5
Naismith........R2
D. Smith.........F5

I'm seeing the best cash generating rookies in the mids, so I have Rowell, Greene and Pickett on the field. Gould (for now) at D6, and Hosie at F6.

But by running a team like this requires me to have probably all of my bench rookies earning $, currently it's not looking that way with, Williams, Keane, Rivers, Mahony, Budarick, Comben, Rankine and Cameron. My fallback position is to lose Whitfield and spend a bit more on the bench rookies, which is probably not going to be enough. I know it's frowned upon to have high priced rookies on the bench, but I might have to go that way to, firstly provide cash and secondly to provide better cover.
Very interested to see your team. I have a similar set up but no way i can afford Oliver as M5. I have Smith and F5 and could get Hill at M5.

Having Serong Rowell Green Pickett means its hard to bring in a capable M5 for me anyway.

Having a few MP's helps

Very similar to my post Marsh1 team, but I bet that your hoping that it's not just Doc scoring well but a host of others too. Guess the next round will give us a clearer picture. My only worry with a team like that is cash generation, so I've gone down a path that I guess is very little trodden and loaded up my bench. I also have Ceglar as my 'get out' in case Naismith looks like being a bust. The other MP's, like yours, can easily be traded down/up and properly nail those rookies on the bubble as well as those 'role change/breakouts' that may rear their heads.

FWIW this is my current team, seriously thinking of keeping Treloar if it's only a one game miss as I have 7 rookies to choose from for cover, yes, it might cost 60 points but he's someone that I'd like in my side.

You would think that Xerri and Cameron may get some early action. In particular Cameron appears to be a bit of a steal for the Pies from the Swans IMO.
And you would hope both will get some ruck duties as well.

Will be interested to see how Cameron teams up with Grundy. The Pies Line up against the Saint this week. Marshell and Ryder, will be a good test for Cameron. If he passes i expect that gets him in front of Reid and Cox as a tall FWD.

On Xerri if Brown is out with calf tear Xerri locks his spot in the team. You would Think.??

There is (2) rooks for the Fwd Line.

Seems to be a lot of Ruck rookies that might play early, add Williams to the mix.
