Agreed. Seems like a pretty easy one for me.
A bit like Danger last year. You've got a Brownlow Medallist, one of the best players in the game, at peak age level - and he's available as a forward! Don't need to think too hard about that one.
Sure, you might get him cheaper throughout the year, but just remove one extra headache and start him.

I think we overcomplicate this game at times and sometimes it does pay to step back and take a deep breath. So many numbers, players and prices going around our heads but I'm pretty sure I'll end up with a starting 22 very close to the one I drafted several weeks ago. A few smokies maybe like Petracca will line up but for me it's a bit of a jigsaw that's all.
Pick a core group of premiums, mid-prices and rookies and just line them up until they fit.
Whether I start 4 or 5 premium mids they will come from a group of 10 and doesn't worry me which ones really as 8 of them will be there by round 6.........................or maybe round 23 I'm not sure yet.

yep very simple game , just actually need 12-16 viable rookie priced players to be selected Round 1 and be viable scorers and have JS ?
But wait they always come , maybe this is the year they actually don't
At least in 2 weeks the tinkering and thinking will be almost over and we have nearly locked our starting sides in

He smashed out a 130 something when Shiel was out last year. Then another 130 something the week after had 9-10 clearances in both games, the kid can score huge on the inside.
If I knew he would get a lot more inside mid time over Merret, McGrath ect he would be one of my first picked players. As marsh one had McGrath getting the increased inside time, I am still quite shaky on the pick. He is only going to go big if he moves up to number 2 or 3 in that midfield imo.

Haha, yep, happens every year, for me anyway.
1. Build a team, a good solid GnR based side. You beauty!
2. Read maybe too much social media/forums, add a couple/few mid pricer/breakout candidates.
3. Brain gets overloaded with too many stats, opinions etc.
4. Team morphs back to original solid GnR based strategy with maybe 1 or 2 likely big improvers.

I wouldn't worry too much - the picture will become clearer with this marsh series round and leading up to round one where the media will be watching training sessions like seagulls waiting for a chip to see who is working with the "best 22" in drills.
There are also a number of second year players priced below 200k who we all know will get a game before too long because they're too good not to.
What last year's mess with Hore taught me is that you need to go with your gut on rookies, based on what you know about team needs and how a rookie might fit into a team structure, even if some of them don't get a game in round 1.

All good I have locked in my 3 Carlton & Richmond players for the time being until their teams are announced on the Wednesday , will then adjust if any rookies look like must haves.
Watch the game , check the rest of the Round 1 teams , lock in my Collingwood and Western Bulldogs players , watch the game , then stay awake all Friday night trying to piece together the rest of the jigsaw.
At the moment I have scrubbers at D4-8 & F4-8 as monetary place holders.
And monitoring the remaining games.
It will all come together , just need to be patient.

Just finished watching the Hawks - Melbourne game from last night and Cegs is almost a lock for me now at F3. Viewing him as a forward rather than a ruck changes everything and he looks like being a potentially very solid producer as a FWD in supercoach.
Petracca on the other hand flashed a bit of his old self - never really got into the game and was largely ineffective so still some question marks around him for mine.
