What happens if an AFL player tests positive to coronavirus?
The AFL are currently putting in protocols to quicken up processes if numerous players have to be tested for coronavirus.
A multiple day wait is currently standard for anyone undergoing tests for the infectious disease, which is currently causing a global health emergency.
Sportsday co-host Sam McClure reports the AFL are working with at least one hospital to make sure tests results for players would be accelerated.
“At least one hospital – the Epworth in Richmond – is on standby for players to have their tests expedited,” he said.
“In the case that someone either is symptomatic of coronavirus or tests positive and they need to quickly test the rest of the team before playing against (another team).
“The AFL are in negotiations with the department of health to make sure AFL players are top of the queue when it comes to testing but also expedite the process so they know their tests being positive or negative earlier than the average Australia which at the moment is a five day window.
“They won’t have to go through the 14-day quarantine period.”
Sport around the globe is currently being affected by coronavirus, which the World Health Organisation has now declared a pandemic.
One of the biggest tennis events in the world – Indian Wells – was cancelled this week, numerous European soccer leagues are currently playing games behind closed doors while the Bahrain Grand Prix will take place later this month with no fans.
AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan confirmed on Tuesday the league was prepared to play games with no fans if required.

Not worried in the slightest - I guess that means I am a bit of an anarchist. I think there is a lot of overreacting going on - it is not significantly worse than a regular cold/flu which also kill people. I do expect the season will get impacted, purely based on the over reacting happening elsewhere. This is likely to impact fantasy comps and more info on what will happen when it does would be good, trying to plan for it makes sense.

hopefully we don't become like Italy and have the whole country shut down , only able to leave your home in a emergency situation and then be 1 metre away from other people or face police arrest
Obviously Australia has not experienced it so far as bad as other cities and countries have so far

I am sure that the Australian's who have already died from it , been hospitalized from it and been in 14 day isolation/quarantine would have a different view again

Be interesting to hear from @Beijing_Sting & @ScoringFreely where they are living and how it has affected their day-to-day life's so far.
I’m going to Rich v Carl. next Thurs( unless they stop us) and I urge all those people using toilets to wash their hands. I’d say 2 out of 10 people wash their hands,only talking men of course,don’t make a habit of going in to the ladies,( always have to queue for the trough, but never have to queue for the basin !) Certainly won’t be handling any cash either.
Strange how this has brought widespread panic,when people with the flu are quite happy to go about their business and spread their germs (and not hoard toilet paper). Supposedly the flu has killed around 30,000 people in the US this season,and at this stage appears more deadly, but of course that can change.

They are saying now that the AFL could be playing in empty stadiums for months rather than weeks depending on how the situation evolves.
Taking the crowd out of the game, do you think that would have an influence over the results of games? I’d think it would affect all the non-Vic teams and Geelong at Skilled with such a crowd bias.
