Haven't seen many saying that full premo wouldn't be achieved / would be harder to achieve
Most seemed to be saying that reaching full premo would come later relative to the end of the year using the traditional approach (which might be o***et by price movements after two games to an extent).
Some took that as a cue to thinking about increasing the proportion of underpriced value picks to get off to a better start and hope to be able to maintain a lead over GnR-based sides.
Extreme view would be that GnR teams could take themselves out of the equation in leagues by starting slowly.
That was more how I read the conversation. Not saying I'm right.
This was from one of the herald sun articles.

"Five fewer rounds will make it tougher to get your team to “full-premium” status using the popular guns-and-rookies approach. The fastest way to trade to a top scorer will be by nailing your starting mid-price selections. Say Lachie Whitfield ($604,100, FWD-MID) starts the campaign slowly and Christian Petracca ($441,300, FWD) dominates from the outset in his new midfield role. In one trade, you’ll be able to turn a player who started in the dangerous mid-price bracket such as Petracca into a season keeper. "

"3. RETHINK YOUR ROOKIE STRATEGY
How many rookies do you want to field when cash generation is going to be tough? KFC SuperCoaches found it tough to pinpoint the standout rookies throughout pre-season and that’s arguably only going to be more difficult now."

The journalist seems to be implying that cash will be generated differently. Maybe I'm reading it wrong.

If the AFL wants to do the right thing by the community the season can't start this week. A third of all confirmed coronavirus cases have happened in the last 48 hours (about 150).

A key measure used to track the spread of the virus is the rate at which the number of cases doubles. In Australia, it has taken four days for the number of cases to double.

What is the correlation between watching sport on TV played by isolated sportsmen and the spreading of a virus?

Spitting abuse at the opposition and/or umpires in your home shouldn't spread it around the community. Or does your ABC have a contrary view?

But why would you upgrade Petracca if he’s dominating in his new midfield role? I’d say it’s more about the nailing some sub $400k players that can go up $120k - $150k to allow a sideways trade to a fallen premium. But if I was picking Trac he wouldn’t be traded unless he’s going ****eeee

I think it's just to show the example.

Why should professional sports people be treated any differently then rest of the public. All other sporting organisations are shutting down so why should the AFL be exempt. Lots of other businesses will also being shutting down and have to deal with the financial difficulties it bring.

At the end of day its only a game.

Are the players and coaching staff going to be completely isolated until infection rates go down?
Is it fair that we isolate players and coaching staff away from their families for our entertainment?

You haven't explained the correlation.

The NRL as I understand is a sporting organization.

It's not only a game, it's a large business.

I find it interesting (and rightly so) we are worried about Joe and Jill Citizen losing incomes and salary if they can't go to work or businesses are closing yet no mention at all of the people employed by the respective football clubs who probably work in admin , support , membership etc etc

Not sure they have a job if their is no season.

Players earn $ 300k + on average so they are probably worried as well if their salary was cut by almost a third (I am sure I would be)

Think first year players are on $ 80k max , rookie listed might be closer to $ 30 - 40k , without VFL and the other second tier comps they are probably doing it tough as well.

Just a thought

If anyone thinks I'm on easy street during this time, click on my signature link and consider how you think our resort and industry, in particular, is fairing right now.

In regards to the NRL they don't have a future fund like the AFL.

So if no games get played no one gets payed.

I was quite disgusted when I heard that the NRL has already asked for financial assistance from the government.

I agree, they are a sporting business/organisation with few morals.

I assume watching TV and spreading a virus, has been conceded.

Most if not everyone is taking a hit, even if the season goes ahead 5he majority of jobs that were involved in the football industry last season won’t be there, security contracts, catering, cleaners, transport, merchandise, buskers whatever, they’ll still be largely gone. Yes a few will keep there jobs for the sake of some highly paid sportsman and officials but most of the Joe and Jill citizen jobs will still be lost. Ed will be okay, Danger will be okay but that bloke serving hotdogs to pay his rent won’t be.
