He may be in and out this season but I think you just take him given the lack of better options.

You've just gotta pick rookies as they're named. Apart from the 123k forward rookies (where we have a bit of choice) no room to be picky this year.

Think you still need to take into account JS and the ability to generate $$$ quickly , isn't that the whole idea of bench rookies + to provide cover if necessary ?

Especially when a side has a player due back from injury in a week or so.

JS is hard to be gauge because we have no idea how coaches are going to deal with a shortened season and no VFL.

Do rookies get rotated heavily because coaches want game time into as many young players as they can? It's very easy to see a rookie being named for one week, then dropped for two, brought back in for another week then dropped again.

So isn’t that more reason to try to pick carefully not just grab any based price rookie named? We may not have a choice though.

But how do you pick carefully at this point? Surely if a rookie is named Round 1 then that's as good a sign as any they are close to best 22? My point is that even rookies we've deemed as being safe JS-wise may now be open to rotation. You can see scenarios where even safer guys like Rowell and Anderson and Brander are rotated out of the team for a week to give them a rest and allow some other fringe players to get game time, more so than other years.

Midfield rookies especially is pretty much a "take what you can get" scenario. We're probably only going to get 2 or 3 <123k options in Round 1.
