Agreed, but he may still only play 60% of game time who knows. What if they play 2 games in 5 days will he get up?
He is a big impact HOTA player so even if he doesn't play 80% he will get a impact score bump from the 3300 allocated

NicNats first two rounds might be the toughest for ruckmen for the whole year. Gawn followed by a tag team.
The unknown is Gawn has only ever rucked against Nicnat once ever and Nicnat won the battle but by memory i think Gawn limped off and had a hobble for the game. I think it was at like NT or Alice somewhere up there

I am getting nervous about rucks. Less game time = less stoppages. So is that bad for the higher priced rucks? However, the higher priced rucks are typically more mobile and also collect points elsewhere ... so I don’t know!

Would probably effect all positions, less possies for mids, less goals for fwds, less kick outs for defenders, less possessions overall due to shorter time. If they are still using the same amount of CD points per game, and scale up scores, maybe there won’t be too much difference, the great players will still be great.

Not really sure why this is such a point of confusion. There will be exactly the same amount of stoppages as before, relative to time on ground.

A ruckman's Fantasy score might be affected by this, but just the same as every other player will be (reduced by ~25%).

Their Supercoach score won't be affected, because the total share of the pie is still split proportionally, same as everyone else.

The lower game time should help Nic Nat be even more impactful in matches.... But the compressed schedule will hurt him if they play multiple games in a week. West Coast will take no risks with him and have good back-up ruck stocks in Williams, Hickey & Vardy... So I can see Nic Nat not playing some games if that schedule comes to fruition.

Maybe an early season bolter who can the be traded out if necessary. WC need early wins on the board.

Given we have almost 2 trades every week, I'm leaning towards starting NN.
Surely Gawn doesn't outscore him by 50 points in R1, in which case you are ahead. You can make the correction after the first week (back to Gawn and rookie) with less risk than ever this year (in terms of running out of trades).

Very tempted to start with Nic Nat and Jacobs.... Crazy?

My team this morning, NN and Jacobs. all rules out the window, stuff it I plan to have fun as there is no way i can see the AFL playing all rounds. Roller coaster ride here i come.

I'm either gonna win this thing, or come 345,000th!!!!

Yeah I see it that way too but the scores affecting NN’s price movement would not be affected by the missed games so theoretically if he started averaging 115-120 his price would move closer to 600k ish.

Do you think NN still plays 70 mins per game in the shorter games? Or is there a chance his minutes per game come down too?

Also, are you considering starting him? I’m giving it some serious thought as this rule change theoretically benefits NN more than any other player but not sure if NN’s minutes per game come down.

2 things can happen:
1) NN's minutes stay the same as they were for 20-min quarters > higher SC scores > risk remains of rotation out if we are looking at 3 games/fortnight fixturing
2) NN's minutes reduce in line with reduction in quarter length to ensure he can play 3 games in 2 weeks > net nil impact.

The downside on 1 scares me more than the upside - while we have more trades/round, we are all getting a bit silly with our teams so it's highly likely NN won't be the only spotfire that needs putting out at any one time. I'm sooooo tempted but I'm passing.

This is why the 3300 system is so good, for situations exactly like this. Every game is treated the same. Unlike Fantasy where scores will be down 20-25% and every player is now overvalued.

don't they already play 3 games a fortnight though eg weekend , weekend , weekend ?

thought the proposal was weekend , midweek , weekend so 3 games in a week ?

Yeah I'd expect he still plays around 65-70% game time... But the Eagles would have more info than us on what future fixture planning is likely to look like, and as XabiFernando suggested, They could reduce Nic Nat's mins accordingly knowing there will be a shorter gap between games.

It's just so hard to know with so much up in the air regarding fixturing.

I've considered starting Nic Nat, and would love too as an Eagles fan... But at the moment he's out and I'm sticking with Grundy & Gawn. I know we have more trades per week now with 30 trades over 17 weeks... But you are likely going to want to use them making as much cash as quick as you can, and also fixing up other issues. I just think if you can lock away 2 guys like Grundy & Gawn with their scoring ability (Even at the high price)... It's 2 spots you don't have to worry about. There's no way Nic Nat plays all 17 games in my opinion so that means you are already committing a trade... and it's likely to come at just the wrong time too for your team.
