Don't bring in Heeney now, he's all but guaranteed to be playing more of a pure FWD role with Buddy's absence.
As a counter argument, I would say he is likely to be one of the top 6 scoring forwards this year. I expect his price will almost surely go up after Rd 2. Depends on the rest of your team if you take him now or not, but you probably won't get him (a probable keeper) as cheap for at least a few weeks.

(I agree you will probably get him cheaper eventually, but probably not by much. He scores well as a forward).

To me he ends up a decent score only by playing midfield in the last quarter other than the odd 4 goal game.

Word of warning on Andrews @Ben's Beasts – I had him last season and he incredibly frustrating, veryyyyy up and down.

Didn't go above 100 after round 11 last season. Nicely done on the Howe starting pick *claps*

Recruit firming for Magpie debut as doubt lingers over key forward
JUNE 04, 2020

COLLINGWOOD recruit Darcy Cameron is firming for his club debut in next Thursday night's return clash with Richmond, as American tall Mason Cox continues to battle with a knee problem.

As reported by AFL.com.au last week, Cox is dealing with bone bruising to his knee and is yet to re-join the main group after copping a knock at training last Wednesday.

The important 211cm forward will sit out the club's intraclub match at the Holden Centre on Thursday night and remains in some doubt to face the Tigers in a week's time, with his recovery taking longer than initially expected.

"He won't (play in the intraclub)," Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley said. "He obviously missed last Friday and will miss this one. That knock to the knee has been problematic, but we believe he'll be right to fully train next week.

"He will be down on a bit of match practice by the time he gets there. He did come out of the quarantine period in pretty good nick physically, so there's no doubt he's done the amount of work required from a fitness perspective.

"It'll just be that match fitness that we'll have to make an assessment on next week."

Collingwood will have 38 available players for Thursday night's intraclub, with Cameron among those vying for selection.

The 205cm ruck-forward was set to add to his one AFL game in round two as a replacement for Brody Mihocek, but has been forced to wait for his chance following the enforced shutdown period due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

However, having made the switch from Sydney during last year's Telstra AFL Trade Period in exchange for a swap of later picks, Cameron is now finally on the verge of making his first appearance in Collingwood colours.

"I suppose I can share this here, even though it was 10 weeks ago now and it's old news, but out of our round one game Brody had suffered a partially collapsed lung and Darcy was the player that would have come in for him to play that exact role," Buckley said.

"Darcy's ruck work and his aerial strength were the two attributes that we brought him across from Sydney for. We traded for him to come to us.

"The major beneficiary from that in a very short space of time has been Brodie Grundy, who has had to ruck against Darcy and they've gone to town against each other and had some great battles.

"Darcy has slowly worked on his forward craft and his capacity to play as a tall forward for us. He's a real aerial target, he definitely has that capacity.

"He understands that he might get stuck in behind Brodie if he's simply pigeonholed as a ruckman and we've been really strong with him that we see his capacity and strength in the air to do some damage forward of the ball.

"He played a particularly good game against Richmond in the Marsh Community Series and he's training really well, so he's not that far away. If Mason wasn't to get up, we'd have no doubt that he could come in and play a really important role."

Annoying with the shutdown Cameron would've played a decent amount of games for a price rise.
May only end up the 1-2 games if Cox misses.

Don't bring in Heeney now, he's all but guaranteed to be playing more of a pure FWD role with Buddy's absence.
In Round 1 he played forward, nothing really changes from the Swans lineup come Round 2 as Buddy wasn't playing.
Granted he kicked 4 goals, but looking at the heat map provided by Connoissuer he had 64% of his possessions in the forward half, with all bar one of those inside the forward 50. I think we might see a more consistent scoring Heeney this year through natural progression and development, even as playing as a forward.

Everyone saying that Buddy out hurts Heeney might be forgetting he put on a clinic in Round 1, and there was no Buddy, and no midfield time.

The thing missing on this is Reid played all of last year without Franklin but with him injured aswell Heeney will likely get the #1 or 2 Defender.

There's an article on AFL.com that appears to quote Papley with him talking about Heeney being the forward target.
I'm also looking at Rd1 and how he went without Buddy in the side, and I'm ok with taking the punt that he can put up decent SC scores in that structure.

Certainly a valid point, although I'd still think the best key/tall defender would go to McCartin and/or Sinclair if he was to come back into the side.

Gresham could become a handy pickup after price drop. Might end up in the 6th-10th ranked fwd come end of year.
Very interesting, could be a great call. Looks like he played high 80s TOG in 2018, but roughly low 80s last year. Could be decent upside from that alone.

I've got BZT so he's in my plans for outs. Likely for Doedee, as I have 4 Def premos (unfortunately Harris Andrews isn't one of them lol!).

My trades will be based around 2 decisions:
- Who to trade Brayshaw to?
- Do I trade Bont?

I'm actually leaning towards backing in Bont, and moving Brayshaw on. Can get to Toby Greene, which might be a bit of a pod move.
Greene might still be a good pick, but I think it was one of @Professor’s posts in which Toby said he wouldn’t be playing mid - so he might be a touch overpriced.

Interesting - I was a long suffering Andrews owner too!

What’s your thinking on those three player types benefiting? I guess the rucks and the bulls may play a higher % TOG in a shortened game (less need for second ruck/less need for best mids to rest forward or on the bench?) ... but players like Andrews are already right up there for TOG - so I’m guessing you might be expecting a different game style?

It’s just one round of data but it’s the extreme DT:SC ratios that have me liking the intercept defenders/backline generals. Here’s a few:

Astbury: 49 DT, 90 SC
Weitering: 49 DT, 102 SC
T Stewart: 63 DT, 100 SC
Blicavs: 38 DT, 86 SC
Wilkie: 39 DT, 79 SC
Hurn: 94 DT, 152 SC
Howe: 110 DT, 156 SC
Andrews: 62 DT, 103 SC

Sure there will be other similar players who didn’t have such skewed scores but all of the above scored 35+ more SC points than DT points and some of them haven’t needed to hit the stats sheet too often to score well.

So I feel as though Andrews will be one of the main beneficiaries.

The midfield bulls look as though they will be scored generously due to the inflated scoring for contested possessions and the rucks will benefit from inflated scores for HOTA.

Just my thinking anyway and only based off what I saw during round 1. Round 2 could turn my observations on their collective heads!
