If I hit the opponent in the wrong spot 3 weeks.
If I hit the opponent 0.5cm to the right of that spot 2 weeks.
If I hit the opponent 0.5cm to the left of that spot 1 week.
It I hit the opponent 1cm either side of that spot a fine.

Clarity is all the players need. :)
Example: Merrett's tap on Silvagni.
Missed by that much!

Got no problem with the Shiel 2 weeks IF they continue with the same punishment for the next case and not revert back to what injury if any has been caused by the bump. Its a big if that is for sure when it comes to the AFL & MRO

Actually hoping there will be another case this weekend to test it -

Thought the exact same thing in the moment - as a Shiel owner especially I watched it and thought: wow that was dirty you idiot, should get weeks for that. But once there was no concussion, and then no structural damage, and he missed no more of the game or training, I was confident it'd be downgraded like every. other. time....

If it stays this way I'd be very glad - this is the example they should show: damage does not matter, if it looks bad and feels bad to watch then it's the kind of thing we don't want to see, min 2 weeks...

... speaking of which, how many weeks did Gary Rohan end up getting this weekend? Anyone? Can't seem to find it.

Shiel went past the ball and made no effort to deviate.
Rohan was trying to bump the player with the ball. I know others will disagree with me on this but he also looks to have made a very late decision to pull out of the bump, but too late unfortunately.
I still think Rohan should have got at least one week as it always the players duty of care not to hit the head and he had free will with his movement.
I agree with others that the action should be penalised. But I don't agree the medical report should be ignored. The medical report gives an indication of the severity of impact. Yes, there is a bit of luck if you hit someone with a soft or hard head. But it should still be considered.

Sheil is the first player to get 2 weeks for an incident like this where the other player continued to play.
Also interesting to see when Cotchin knocked him out in a similar situation and got nothing...

The AFL's reaction to Burgoyne's sling tackle earlier in the year is an indication of where they are heading. I agree they got it wrong in the past.

Hawthorn playing funny buggers.

The Hawks are hopeful Jonathon Ceglar will be able to prove his fitness in time for Round 7 selection, after he sustained a minor crack in his toe during Hawthorn’s Round 6 loss to Collingwood.

According to GM-Football Graham Wright, Ceglar presented with some soreness following the game and was sent for scans.

“Scans have revealed a small crack in the bone in Jon’s toe,” Wright confirmed.

“It’s only a minor issue, and there’s still a good chance he might be right to go by Sunday’s game.

“We’re lucky in that sense that we have a nine-day turnaround this week.

“We’ll keep monitoring his fitness over the next 24 hours, and will make a final decision ahead of team selection tomorrow night.”

Yep. Was fairly sure he would miss, can move him to the bench now at least.
Bugger that... He's gone after hearing Peter Bell's comments...

"Unfortunately he will miss the Derby this week and potentially a few more games after that. Nat will get stuck into his rehab and hopefully we'll see him in a few weeks"

Yeah, thinking you might be right. I didn't open the article when I first posted and thought it was one week only he was missing. This really stu*** my plans up with Ceglar to deal with too.
