Richmond defender Bachar Houli is set to fly to Queensland this week and could return to the Tigers’ line-up as soon as Round 12.
Houli, who stayed back in Melbourne after the recent arrival of his third child Mohammed, will be joined by his wife and their children on a flight north on Thursday.
Houli will have to serve a 14-day hard quarantine at a separate hotel before being reunited with Tigers teammates in their Gold Coast hub.
He will still be able to train during that time.
“At this stage he will be on the plane on Thursday which is great, he will go into the isolation hub for a couple of weeks and come out the other side and hopefully put his hand up to play which would be a real positive for us,” Tigers coach Damien Hardwick said.
It is understood the
health of Houli’s mother has improved after she was battling COVID-19 in intensive care in Melbourne earlier this month, paving the way for the move.
“He’s got to spend some time in quarantine but that will work itself out,” Richmond senior club advisor Neil Balme told the
Herald Sun.
“He’s always been keen to come up but there’s been other things going on. But it’s quite good for him and for us.”
Houli’s quarantine would end on August 13, putting him in the frame for a return as early as Round 12 when the Tigers face Gold Coast Suns on August 17."
