The more I think about it, the more I lean toward trading Gawn. We've got three rounds of the H2H SC season left. If he does play, he's under an injury cloud and has a poor scoring history against the next two teams he is scheduled to play.

I'm also thinking I leave Simpkin, and aim to get Walters in as my last forward. If that doesn't work, I have the option of O. McInerney, or Simpkin again if he looks to have turned it around. Means that this week I look at bringing in a mid premo in Titch, or perhaps a speculative pick in Sier who has the potential to score well in the next few weeks given Collingwood's midfield injury problems...

So this is the scenario(s):

A
1. Gawn > Nicnat*
2. Bennell > Schoenberg
3. Cameron > Titch* (+$5,100) /Sier (+$312,400)

B
1. Gawn > Goldy
2. Bennell> Schoenberg
1. Cameron > Sier (+222, 000)

*Has had bye.

C. Hold onto Gawn, you nutter.

Sorry about this. I find it helps to think out loud. Make any sense?

out of the options you have listed i really like

bennel -> schoenberg
viney -> titch

however considering you only have 2 people on their bye this week, you have the luxury of holding viney and it not damaging you too much

if you are trying to maximise points this week id be doing that option mentioned, but if you arent and think viney can go 110 from here holding him may be more beneficial

if it helps you, ive traded viney out this week :)
An option could be
Out: M Hibberd, H Bennell and J Lloyd
In: S Wicks/H Schoenberg, T Mitchell and S Hurn

8 trades left.
All rookies off the ground next week.
Appreciating rookies should help allow a premium ruck in a few rounds.
Involves keeping the likes of Smith, Houston, Viney, etc for the time being.

Or select Laird over Hurn and trade Rankine over Hibberd/Bennell.
Thanks for your thoughtful responses!

I am leaning the way of the Viney to Titch trade. I put Viney more in the 100 range, I feel he is overperforming and will surely revert back. If this trading situation arose a couple of weeks ago, I would have gone the Gaff and Adams option, but since then my midfield has been leaking points with the likes of Viney, Yeo and McGrath as opposed to the big dogs like Macrae and Oliver. If I had reason to believe Gaff could recapture his early season form, I might go that way. I trust Adams.

Earlier in the week I thought about Lloyd to Connor Blakely. I don't rate Hurn as a 90+ option this season but I do like your bold thinking. While a Lloyd slingshot was in my plans earlier, I have since decided that my very issue is underscoring and sometimes PODish picks. I can't bring myself to trade out one of the few good, consistent scorers that I have. Likely to average 110 and be no. 1 defender from here on I would imagine.

Firstly, apologies for the two screenshots, I'm using my phone at the moment.

I just wanted to put my team out there and get some feedback/suggestions/thoughts on some potential trading scenarios. I should mention that my sole focus is on overall rank and maximum points gain for the remainder of the season.

There is so much going on, it's hard to think beyond this round. Theoretically, this is the order of priority.

1. I need a premium player at M8.
2. I need a premium player at R2 (waiting for Gawn which means I may tick off below priorities first).
3. Devon Smith out (Hugh Greenwood next round seems a no-brainer).
4. Other sideways trades (max 2) - candidates are Viney, Yeo, Houston, Doedee. Leaning towards keeping Doedee.

Option 1:

Sideways trading Viney this round (which probably means keeping Yeo) and going after an M8 next week (Fyfe?). I am 5.3k short of Titch. I could go Adams. Or I could go Bennell to Schoenberg and Viney to Titch. Could also use a 3rd trade when rookies are named to free up more cash for next round.

Option 2:

Aggressive. Dev, Viney and Bennell out for Schoenberg, and 2 of Adams/Shuey/Gaff/Matt Crouch. Feels bad holding Dev all this time and trading him after his first good score in 8 weeks. I am open to it though.

Option X:

???

I will massively appreciate anything you can offer.
Lots of scenarios, but I would start with trading out Bennell and Budrick. Budrick's BE is close to his average and I think ready to be traded out, I did trade him out this round. Those 2 out will give you a $510k start.

Like A, two genuine good players who have also had their bye.

Not advocating to move Gawn on. Not sure about ave vs Pies, however, I remember one game when they played and Gawn scored +130 and Grundy sub 90. If he heals up, scores a 140 he may just drop another $60-80k.

What about Laird instead of Hurn?
Laird is better than Hurn, however, note he hasn't had his bye. also played more midfield time last week with Smith out of the team.

Feels like we need a community message. we all stress when a player is out for one game, what is the impact of bringing in someone who has a bye in the finals (or just to come for overall),could be carnage in that week. Unless significant value, we should target post bye players.

ps In Perth this weekend, note it is very wet, decent rain and wind.

I see Viney to Titch as an upgrade, so I like that. And yeah, don't trade out your good consistent scorers.

I’m doing Viney to Titch too.

Holding Gawn.

Copping the hit this round hopefully back fit and firing next round and also against English in R13.

I like Laird but I just get the feeling that trading Lloyd out will come back to bite me. Can I gain enough points from that move when compared to all the points I will lose from Lloyd vs. Laird?
Yes. Replaces a poor cash generating rookie with T Mitchell and relegates Rankine/other rookie to the bench. The more sideways trades you complete the more difficult it will be to bring Gawn/other premium ruck in and if injuries/rests strike there will be even more holes to fill with the underperforming players the least of your concerns.

Viney has already had his bye and assuming you keep McGrath and Yeo as well as selecting Mitchell then your midfield should able to get through the byes relatively unscathed.

I'd be more concerned about trading Gawn if I didn't have Neale, Macrae and Grundy.

I rate that. With my midfield leaking points though, I had one of Viney/Yeo penciled in as a sideways to a big hitter. In my head it makes sense that if one of them is definitely going, then it may as well be Viney this week, as I can gain 50 points - Titch 110 - 60 (a score that will drop out due to best 18).

But keeping Viney and Yeo throughout further byes means instead of a 0 or 1-60, that 85-115 will hopefully be very beneficial on either 1 or multiple occasions.

Don’t like or rate any of the upcoming rookies available. Feel they’ll be in/out with poor JS covering senior players getting rested. Last thing you want is piling up on dead cows for the current cash grab.

So with that I’m looking to firm my squad by culling some dead weight with young guys with great JS and potentially good scoring power and $$$ to make.

OUT: Simpson Bennell Buda
IN: Serong Sier Draper

Holding Gawn and will look closely at Simpkin next week or Fyfe.
I’m seriously considering Sier as well.

How secure do you reckon his spot in the 22 is? And what do you expect him to average?

Decided on Roscoe for what it is worth. Decided being DPP, could swing with Rivers makes him more valuable.

Agree re Gawn, if you have other capt options it can make an impact on decision. Only difference is Neale may see more tags going forward. Love Gawn just because he cannot be tagged. Hopefully bounces back next week.

Yeah, I know. I'm not completely comfortable trading him out, but that's the game really - can't be too careful or too rash. I've spent too much time trying to decide on this, already. My whole weekend pretty much.

I was looking at Ruscoe and the M/D appealed to me as well. But now I think I'll just grab Schoenberg, or might even go early on Wicks, and wait to see how the defence rookie options go. I need to get rid of Starc next week. The rookies are a problem, which is why I've been looking at Sier closely.
