Good news... End of last year there was a bit of talk about Petruccelle heading back East, so good to see he decided to stay for 3 more years.

Ryan resigning is a no brainer.... Only just hit 51 games so still has plenty of improvement to come.

To be brutally fair, there are only about 3 players amongst that lot, that would be top up players at other Clubs, the rest better start hoping the VFL comes calling.

Tested positive for COVID and got ignorantly and ridiculously criticised by the media, opposition fans and the AFL, that was disgusting and a good enough reason for him to be turned off by the AFL community. Hopefully not turned off Australia as a whole though.

Interesting that their retirements come together. Both ended at Carlton in "suspicious" circumstances, in the midst of the worst tanking in AFL history. Who could ever forget the last game of the 2006 season being labeled the Bryce Gibbs Cup? The loser got to pick up Gibbs in the next draft. Essendon stuffed that up, and after tanking so many games, won the game, and lost the chance at getting Gibbs. Looking back, Essendon stuffed up twice, using pick 2 to take Scott Gumbleton, with Boak and Joel Sellwood slipping through to 5 and 7 respectively.

Gumby looked like he was going to be the next big thing though, I feel for dodo on that one as he probably made the right call without the wisdom of hindsight. There weren’t many 6’8 freak athletes running around back in the mid 00s.

Such a shame his Hammys were made of silly string.
