I see Jacks as a guy who will be used in games where the opposition openers are deemed weaker against spin.

Hughes for the Sixers will have spin used against him for sure, so I’m confident Jacks will bowl the 2nd over (faulkner will bowl the 1st). After that is pot luck and will depend on the flow of the game.

Against the Strikers, I don’t think Jacks would open against Weatherald and Salt as Salt enjoys the spinners.

Obviously this is purely speculative but I think we’ll see more Short overs in the double round and more Jacks overs in the 1st round.
That's where I need to develop more , trying to work out opposition strengths and weaknesses , which bowlers will when and against who etc etc

I'm always glad that the kind of machinations I'm going over in my own head pop up on this forum around the same time, because it assures me I'm not going totally mad. :) Got thoughts on a few players running through my head so I'll lay them out in turn:

D'Arcy Short - Why does Hobart's double have to be specifically round 2?? If it was round 1, he's obviously a no-brainer. Any later and I think it's an obvious move to fade him early and try and get him cheaper. But round 2? If you do fade him round 1 and he drops off, you might get him cheaper but you're carrying that poor score into an even greater death spiral for his price. Obviously the cash situation is even worse if you get him round 1 and he does badly then. Either way I think you're committed to him for the whole season or not at all. On paper leaving him out round 1 looks wise, but I've been waiting for him to revert to the mean for three years and it just won't happen!

Glenn Maxwell - The Stars not having a completed squad is killing me here, because it's hard to know what his potential role is without a clear best XI in mind. Unfortunately, the Stars were so good last season that they'll probably stick to the way they used him last year - refusing to throw him into the mix in the Powerplay for some reason. And as Ironhawk mentioned, he was awful in that role in the IPL. Punjab were happier to use him as a bowler, but with Zampa and (particularly) Zahir in their side I just can't see how he gets overs.
Incidentally, I found this nugget interesting: https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/...20-21-glenn-maxwell-keen-put-lean-ipl-run-him - in talking about the new rules, he speaks of Nicholas Pooran as someone he'd like to use in that floating Powerplay, so again he might not be getting the best use out of himself.

Billy Stanlake - On paper, a dirt-cheap bowler with international experience, a guaranteed starting spot and a first up DGR should be a no-brainer, but I just can't make myself pick him even with all the options that opens up for the rest of my team. Firstly, he hasn't played at any level (that Cricinfo can find) in nine months; his two games are on consecutive days and if you were going to rest anyone from a back-to-back like that, it's your out and out quick with no match practice; both those games are at Manuka; he's never been a good death bowler; and he's probably a prime candidate to be subbed out of one game or the other given all of the above, which kills the entire advantage of him having a DGR in the first place.

Can't help but think getting all three of those calls right will be incredibly important to a good start to the season!

I am not entirely convinced in Short yet. Hobart have a lot of batting and bowling options - if he didn't have a DGR round 2, would you start him at that price? Not sure that I would. He has to score as well as he did last year to maintain that price and even then that is still expected to be 6 pts less this year with the new scoring? Good luck.

Thing is I am not seeing a lot of other options for R2 who could meet his potential score that round. He is currently in my team, but not locked in. If he fails in R1, it'll be very interesting to see what people do.

Maxwell is the popular player I am more hesitant in. He is in 47% of all teams, but he was awful in the IPL. I'm not sure he's going to be worth spending $185K on for round 1, even if it is a DGR. Figure I need to choose at least one of these two to start - I am more confident in Short of the two, but I'll probably stick with the pack and start both.
Certainly get the point about Maxwell.

Rahul , Agarwal , Gayle are a lot different to Stoinis , Cartwright & Larkin though.

Granted though if Stoinis gets set , Maxwell might not get the opportunity with the bat , so could be reliant on bowling and fielding points.

My Rookie Year. Living OS for years have no idea on the players.

Not to keen on Gotch but has the DG round 1. Or should I select another keeper to get me through until wade is available.?

$ 161, 200.00 in the Bank seems way too excessive.

I guess it depends on your trade in targets for Round 2 though and who you want to keep.

Guys like Meredith , Faulkner , Coulter-Nile , Z Khan will be popular.

Don't mind Khawaja & Tye as picks but a long wait until their DGR.

Possibly could look at upgrading Vince & Bryant.

I guess the next couple of weeks will show more team reveals.

If Wade keeps his Test spot he will probably only be available for the last 3-4 games.

Prob now how I wanted it in the end but hope you guys (and girls) find it helpful.

If I find time over the next few days I will add some stuff here that didn't make the file.
I've just had a preliminary look through this, and I've only got two words to say:
"Brilliant" and "Generous".
A huge thanks to @Damion23 for sharing this invaluable tool/information with the site.
For those unfamiliar with Damion, he has an unequaled record in BBL (with apologies to @THCLT). I'm not sure how many times he has finished top 10/top 100, but I'd be pretty sure it is more than any other Coach!

My god mate , you deserve to win the whole comp when you have analysis like that , absolutely incredible.

You should be bringing out a BBL prospectus.

Very interesting to see your Bowling lineup.

Fantastic work and unbelievable to share

Good luck

Interesting now that the full fixture is out:

- ADE play 5 games in their home state: 2 v MELR, 1 v MELS and 2 v PER
- BRI play 7 games in their home state: 1 v ADE, 2 v HOB, 1 v MELS, 2 v SYD6 and 1 v SYDT
- HOB play 5 games in their home state: 2 v ADE, 1 v MELR and 2 v MELS
- MELR play 5 games in their home state: 2 v BRI, 1 v HOB and 2 v MELS
- MELS play 5 games in their home state: 1 v ADE, 2 v MELR, 1 v PER and 1 v SYD6
- PER play 4 games in their home state: 1 v HOB, 1 v MELR, 1 v SYD6 and 1 v SYDT
- SYD6 play 5 games in their home state: 2 v HOB, 1 v PER and 2 v SYDT
- SYDT play 5 games in their home state: 2 v ADE, 1 v HOB and 2 v SYD6

I also guess that the ACT is also a second home state for SYDT so could also add: 1 v BRI, 2 v MELS and 1 v PER to bring it up to 9 games

- was just curious as I haven't always rated PER as a traveling team ...
- interested in others thoughts ....

Amazing!

Thanks sooooo much for sharing.

Now I don’t know what excuse I am going to be able to get away with for explaining why I don’t win this year! I hope you won’t need one and this is your year!

Just a reminder for the 'newbies' like me to this site..................about 'trading' in the upcoming BBL 10

You can make unlimited trades on your initial team entry. Your team is locked in and entered at the start of the next upcoming round after you joined.

You'll then be able to trade up to 3 players after the conclusion of each round, after round 1 thru to round 13.

You can make one trade at a time, or make two or three at once. Players may be traded right through the week and during the rolling lockout, up until each player's FIRST match has begun (if a player is involved in two matches in any round, they are locked into your team at the start of their first match).

Trades can be reversed right up until the start of the FIRST match of each round. Once the round and rolling lockout is under way, you can no longer reverse any trades. Trades are NOT transferable - if you don't use up your three trades in each round, they will be forfeited.

Prior to each of the four rounds (14-17) that consist of the BBL|10 Finals Series matches, there will be unlimited trade periods prior to each round, where you can make as many changes as you like. The full trading period schedule is set out as follows:

Trade Period 1 - from Sunday, December 13
Trade Period 2 - from Thursday, December 17
Trade Period 3 - from Thursday, December 24
Trade Period 4 - from Tuesday, December 29
Trade Period 5 - from Friday, January 1
Trade Period 6 - from Monday, January 4
Trade Period 7 - from Thursday, January 7
Trade Period 8 - from Monday, January 11
Trade Period 9 - from Friday, January 15
Trade Period 10 - from Wednesday, January 20
Trade Period 11 - from Saturday, January 23
Trade Period 12 - from Monday, January 25

Trade Period 13 - from Wednesday, January 27 (Eliminator/Qualifier - unlimited trades)
Trade Period 14 - from Sunday, January 31 (Knockout - unlimited trades)
Trade Period 15 - from Monday, February 1 (Challenger - unlimited trades)
Trade Period 16 - from Friday, February 5 (Final - unlimited trades)

I think regarding Maxwell, he was bowling a lot to left handed openers being a left arm bowler, but Zahir Khan is a left arm bowler and i expect stoinis to bowl, being fit this year, so how much does he bowl?

Having said that, its a double game round 1 and its so hard to leave him out, but he is a definite trade for round 2 if i start him.
I am confused

When did Maxwell start bowling left arm ?
