Start 11 Stars, 5 Strikers on the bench. Trade in 6 Strikers R2 and R3. You could have 11,8,11 DGR that way, and still get to 9 DGR by R6 (assuming you can afford the 11 starting Stars and 5 cheapest playing R3 Strikers - you probably can't).
Hawky, but where are my fav Hurricanes for their RD 2 double..........................lol.........................don't leave my canes out

Best of the best and all that jazz............ score potential for the player I mean...................leading 3x bowlers, openers and next in........ are the %'s as many would agree................................

Look @ the Hurricanes batting.....................try to pick a cert to score good points for you past the first out ??

Short/Wright open, you'd guess first in would be 'Jacks', (he's the proven big-gun 3)....................then who out of McDermott/Hanscombe' & 'Ingram'?? Back here it can be pretty sparce digs if the 20x overs get chewed up by the early few.

What about the Stars bowling lineup now that Z Khan is on board?? Not much left for big billy, Hinchliffe, Coleman and co............ if Stoinis and Maxi share 4x and Zampa/Coulter & Khan turn up each week for their 4x overs. How are these names going to become positive for a BBL 10 supercoach player?

A lot of players will be hoping for injuries I'm guess after the round 1 lockdown kicks................

I mentioned Maxi prior..................for $185K this year to start and a breakeven that if you fell off it it'd break your leg (lol), he's back @ probably 2nd falling wkt.

I remember the frustration paying up for him last year and not getting a go till the end of a game........................hard to swallow when you're relying on the fourth bloke in.

Jono Wells was great............................but how many Jono Wells are worth betting on?

Every team's the same.......................but it's all good fun, and as I look at it, the schedule makes it possible to be greedy chasing doubles without much neg......................except for bad weather.

But those that are thinking about chasing doubles.............................got to be able to stomach trading everyone regardless of past status's.................can't fall in luv with the 'big' names of the game if trading for doubles is your want.......................

After round 1, Stoinis gorn.........................Maxi gorn.......................R Khan in then after round 3, maybe R Khan gorn.........................not easy to swallow for most...........................I did say that word crazy (lol)

Good strategy choosing......................ag

As mentioned in a later post, an alternative is you can start 8 Stars/3 Hurricanes and go 8/11/11. Might work out better.

...I still don't recommend it.

Changing them in and out daily. Finch v S Marsh + 30K.

Today its Finch turn to be in my side.

Think the IPL has messed too much with my head (and sleep). Maxwell blah, Finch dropped and Phillipe couldn't rotate the strike enough.

Looks like S Marsh will return to my side tomorrow. Hang on, that's Fri so Finch could go berserk in ODI. Please hold.🤯

cheers

Do you see any risk with not knowing their starting XI when you lock in their players? Rolling lockout in Round 1 means we can see all other teams starting XI’s before locking their players in. That can also help deduce likely batting order and number of bowlers they will use etc. We can assume who the Strikers likely XI is from the squad announced the day before but we will be guessing structure and we won’t know who may have that niggle we haven’t been told about and gets left out unexpectedly!
There is a little extra risk, but I think it can be reduced, and that there is a fairly significant o***et.

We can probably assume that guys like Rashid, Salt, Renshaw, Siddle etc are locks if fit, so they are safer picks ahead of time. Rashid is expensive, so he’s more of a trade in target for me now, but Salt/Renshaw look pretty safe from my perspective as R1 starters.

The benefit is essentially one extra game in round 3, plus additional flexibility in rounds 2 and 3, as I see it, so even if someone missed (say) the first game of round 2 with illness, you’re actually still ahead net net. You haven’t gained or lost anything in terms of score contributions, but you’ve still benefited from the trade flexibility.

In that situation the info about the missed R2 game would obviously influence your plans - so in a sense there’s a disadvantage in not knowing that when you select a Strikers player - but I still think you’re ahead despite this.

I’ve also seen some comments about there being risks with picking DGR players because of weather risks or the like. If I understand this correctly, it would certainly reduce the benefit of selecting that player - but I can’t see why the weather risk is greater with a DGR player than an SGR player, and you lose one game if weather strikes either way (which means the DGR player becomes an “SGR player” for that round).

Similarly I’ve seen people avoiding picking DGR players to avoid the risk of a donut down the track (eg if you pick too many Stars in R1, you could risk a donut on their R3 bye). This is obviously worth thinking about, but if it’s only a possibility of a donut, you’re likely still ahead even if you do stuff it up/get unlucky, because the DGR double score is locked in, and the donut is uncertain.

There are good reasons not to go too hard on DGR players, but I think sometimes people worry a bit much about minor/potential downsides in the future, and forgo a largely locked in gain to protect themselves from it. It seems a bit conservative from my perspective.

Worth pointing out that the Stars (R3) and Strikers (R1) are the only teams with byes this season. It's really only going super hard on Stars in R1 which might hurt you in R3 in that regard. Having extra DGR's besides that is generally going to be a positive.

I've been contemplating Sutherland.
Any thoughts?

Issue: Lalor, Perry, Prestwidge

Could the issue be the reason not to consider him?
He’d probably be a lock in my side if he wasn’t in the Aus A squad. Think he plays in place of Prestwidge when available.

Agree with all of this. I watch a fair bit of shield and have been astounded how much he's developed over the past 12 months. Seems to have developed into his body alot more aswell. Theres definetly a role for him at 7. As soon as he gets back from Aus A ill be trying to get him in.

On the topic of the gades lower middle order, a quick look at Nabi's instagram and he was still in Pakistan 2 days ago. You'd think him and the other afghan guys would have been in aus quarantining by now? Strange.

😃I was out and about, and thinking of my BBL side 😂

I haven't memorized it (yet), thought 🤔, I'll throw up a post and my answer will come quick 😎
That's good that you are thinking about your BBL side 😀

I recall on the 18 November I posted to tell you about Sutherland being in the Australian A Squad 🤔

Just realised I will be away from home base from 4th to 11th of December, so might have to lock in a squad without squad announcements.

Not a great way to start the season.

Bashed together my first draft:

Philippe (Gilkes)

Stoinis, Maxwell, Hales, Ingram, Bryant, (Handscomb, M Short)

D Short, Jacks, NCN, Z Khan, Stanlake, (Worrall, Wildermuth)

Yes, but that was over a week ago, I can't remember what someone said to me 3 days ago. Hence the the print outs... now I did use the "search" before I asked so I am getting better 🙄

All good

What are your expectations of Sutherland ?

Can you seeing him regularly scoring 40+ or is he someone just as a bench option and then use onfield in their DGR ?

I had looked at him & Stanlake previously myself.

I'm thinking he might be the Webster of last season. Wanting to see others opinions about his inclusion, and his competition from other players between $60k-$80k
