I can’t recall the rule of thumb on interrupted preseasons ... is it basically anything less than “full running in January”, or very close to it, should be ruled out?
Pretty much yes - history has shown that generally speaking, if a player doesn't get a proper volume of training under their belt leading into round 1 then they are likely to start the season slowly then build therefor making them more of a possible upgrade target.

DE GOEY IN MID-SEASON FORM

A hamstring injury that kept Jordan De Goey out of the 2019 preliminary final – and saw him make a dash to Germany – meant Collingwood was conservative with one of its biggest stars last pre-season. The shackles look like they’ve been removed on Friday’s evidence. A chiselled De Goey presented in terrific shape, dwarfing some of his teammates in body size but running as well as everyone bar Will Kelly. He even snuck in a session before Christmas, so he’s not stuffing around. After long deliberations, the Pies announced he had re-signed for two more years in December. Maybe, just maybe, De Goey is ready to tear the competition apart.

Training in the midfield, could he be a beneficiary of Treloar's departure along with Adams?

Maybe he could be this year's Petracca, have that breakout season we have been waiting for..... priced at 435K - tempting.

Thank you - do you think close to full running in Jan would be a reasonable threshold, or not necessarily?
