Am sure there'll be a good discussion / dissection of this already, but it's so striking how the score distribution shifted at the top end last year.
Looking at players with a season avg >90 across the years, despite there being fewer rounds in 2020, the scores >110 essentially track square with the numbers across previous full seasons (and the off-the-charts scores outstripped 2015-2019). 2015 at top, 2020 at bottom.

And if you look at MIDs, the sheer number of premos going >110 season avg. and their distributions (different binning to make it easier):

2020: Every person and their canine companion got in on the act in terms of upper echelon individual games scores:

Compared to 2019:

and 2018 (although 2018 had some stellar individuals like Mitchell and Macrae with an outrageous top-end):

Being a Hawks supporter do you think that Wingard average will improve due recent retirements , who now plays on the wings.
Bevo is Clarko

Clarko is Bevo

Dont trust him! Wingard will get stuck forward to try to kick goals the minute they are struggling. Bit of a downhill skier in that role base don teams they play. Most frustrating player last year.

Yeah, think I'm ready to let that ship sail (which means he's free of my tag!). I picked him thinking Clarko isn't an idiot like Ken but then he proved me wrong. Seems to prefer a lot of middling talent in the guts instead of Wingard. At this point I just assume he's such an asshole coaches don't want to reward him with midfield minutes, seems the most logical reason to play him out of position up forward.

Harry McKay surely is due for a breakout season and average 75 to 80?

The tough thing for Tom is we've had a very settled back 6/7 last year and barring injury I dont see any of them stepping aside all that quickly.(Carlisle possibly the exception, but i think the stop gap recruitment of Frawley was made with this in mind).

Patton. Howard. Wilkie.
Coffield. Carlisle. Clark/Long.

Coffield and Wilkie would be the closest like for like he'd be looking to replace. Both of whom on current form very much deserve there spot in the team.

Probably the best case would be for Clark and/or Coffield to graduate up the ground, reckon both are capable of more than being just defenders.

Crows veteran Daniel Talia is stepping up his pre-season training load, running at full speed, five months after having arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. The 29-year-old defender, who underwent the procedure in September, had been restricted to indoor rehabilitation on the AlterG treadmill until the past fortnight. On Thursday, Talia was put through a series of sideline sprints at West Lakes while his teammates did drills and then had a match simulation. Tom Doedee sat out too, jogging away from the main group, nursing a groin complaint. The backman is expected to rejoin full training next week.

Also on the sidelines were long-kicking Paul Seedsman and pick No. 25 Brayden Cook. Seedsman felt hamstring tightness during the session, while Cook did skills practice with a coach as part of his workload being managed through his first pre-season.

Ruckman Reilly O’Brien came off midway through the match simulation after sustaining a cut above his left eye. He returned to the field with a bandage wrapped around his forehead and continued his battle with Kieran Strachan.

Wayne Milera rolled his ankle but completed the game and performed strongly, lining up in the midfield. Teammate Tom Lynch said Milera, who rejoined the main group last month after foot problems ruined his 2020 campaign, had been building his preparation. “He obviously played a pivotal role (on Thursday) and he’s an important player,” Lynch said.

Here were some other match simulation observations:
Tall defender Nick Murray is firming to be rookie-listed during the Supplementary Selection Period. Plucked from country NSW, he looked in great condition, took a huge early mark and competed well.
■ Harry Schoenberg appears ready to take another step. Playing in the midfield and pushing forward at stoppages, he kicked two early goals, just from being in the right spot, front and centre.
■ Ned McHenry looks physically more mature. And the 20-year-old showed his strength when he fended off Brodie Smith to the ground after winning a contested ball.
■ Lynch seems to have found a new home on a wing. He played there on Thursday and been doing so this summer. Lynch, a Crows AFLW assistant, was unable to train with the group earlier this month after having to quarantine coming back from WA.
■ After finishing his 2020 campaign strongly, Elliott Himmelberg has picked up where he left off, taking strong marks and covering plenty of ground. The key forward was rewarded with a new two-year contract in September.

Personally I hate this rule. It doesn’t make any sense. The old “east west” rule worked perfectly well and struck the right balance between the player on the mark and the player with the ball. Of course, we should not be surprised when the AFL completely f***s up the game with an unnecessary rule change which does nothing other than aggravate players and fans.

I actually hated it. One that stands out to me is Motlop who always played it 10 metres inside from where the mark was actually taken. They never really ever went direct line either and ended up a few metres of the mark.
