I could be wrong but I think most who start with Heppell aren’t expecting him to be M8 but rather a player who scores 90-95, hopefully makes around 175-200k and then gets upgraded when the time is right.
Yes, you are probably right, I've never had success with stepping stone players, they just seem to sit in my team till the end as I have other issues to address first.

I cooled a little on Stewart. Had him all preseason, is there a risk he goes full back if Blicavs is struggling in that role.

Mills most likely to play mids. However, his scores when he had CBA’s was a little mixed. 110 vs Hawks who gave up big scores. Think @wogitalia may have said he feared he was a better scorer at half back, despite good junior numbers.

Both out of my team. Even Williams has question marks from durability.

Not me on Mills, love him as a midfielder and think he's very capable of being 110+.

My worry is Horse, he hates players who take the game on and Mills is the epitome of that, has essentially been punished into defense for 3 years now because of it and I just don't trust him to change that, especially if the replacements don't do the job, Horse has proven to be a firm believer that the midfield is the least important part of the field and should be sacrificed for other positions where possible.

If I could trust his role to be the #1 midfielder he should be then he'd be my first picked but right now I struggle to pick him because I think as a defender he's overpriced and, again, I don't trust Horse. Basically my midfield comparison on him is Pendles, that's how highly I rate him in the position (I rate Pendles higher than most do, this is not a comparison I use lightly) but would want to see a pure midfield role, preferably resting forward even level. If I see him in defense at all in the preseason I don't think I can pick him.

And believe me, I want to pick him :)

With the News on Neale.

Neale&Williams vs Jelly&Lloyd
I guess it comes down to, who do you prefer to trade out during the season Kelly or Williams. With Kelly you will drag on holding him when injured hoping he is back soon. Williams will cost less in points loss and $$ on bench if he is injured.

If Neale is playing both pre season games, back him in.
