Daniel will get tagged, did last year, but they just pushed him into the midfield when it happened and he got right back on the horse. Can't stop his kick-ins either and think the new rules are going to make it super hard to stop the old around the back play as can handball and then block and the man on the mark is stuck being slow to react.
Definitely a concern but think it applies to almost all the top backs.
You're definitely seeing something different in that group to me if you want any of them on the field
Butts I like the look of but when Doedee plays he'll be a lock down defender, reckon you can get much better value from other choices.
Cox I like a lot but he just put up 32 in a full game so there's legitimate cause for concern on his scoring.
Jones I doubt plays round one, would actually be somewhat surprised given their options down back.
Briggs would be great if he plays, still think he's behind Flynn and unlikely to play more than a game or two because of it, of course playing round one gives you the chance to demand the spot.
Kosi is a bench rookie, don't be fooled by a big bag against probably the worst team in the league playing without it's first choice midfield in the preseason!
Highmore will be solid if he plays, would be happy there but his JS will not be solid unless he's amazing when he plays.
Sharp is unlikely I'd think given he's got high school to attend to and the priority clubs put on that, I may be wrong but Hanners is the last player I can recall playing while in HS.
Murray is going to be a lock down key defender fighting to be in the side round one and then holding off Talia as soon as he's available. In play but I don't think you'd want on field and he's the kind of guy who could be done by round 4.
I will say, the group looks a lot better than this time last week but that's still an awfully thin group! I wouldn't be surprised if Ziebell outscored the entire group in round one for comparison
I mean the idea sounds good but it would mean starting Laird in the midfield and having a DPP rookie to switch him with down back. The rookie looks like a one and only option in Sharp and Laird in the midfield just doesn't make sense to me given it means pushing out one of the stronger mid/fwd rookies to take a defender rookie instead which kind of defies the point of then using one of those mid/fwd rookies to start over the defender you prioritised
