Covid case in Brisbane, awesome.

Living over here in WA, and state election tomorrow, can see McGowan shutting borders immediately. With eagles to play GC first up in Perth lol... here we go again

Edit: is on most news sites already, link here tho https://www.news.com.au/world/coron...n/news-story/0bc55d4fab29375ea8c8c385e56431b4

Will be interesting what he does. Although he has already won the election might wait till Monday to assess if any other cases turn up. Clearly thinks WA being shafted with the 1/2 price tickets fiasco so may not wish to make it worse without good reason to make it so. But if cases turn up all over Brisbane in the next couple of days then you would think it is game over and the shut down will come in.

Cahill has a much better role with much better scoring potential. Jones I like the look of but his scoring potential doesn't look good in a pretty loaded rookie pack.

How far out is Stringer? Everything I've seen is he's a chance at round 1, would definitely put some pressure on Jones' spot as the 3rd tall I'd have thought.

Do like the look of Jones though.
I don’t think Jones has been playing as a 3rd tall. He’s one of the main KPF targets

Hooker and Wright have been the clear main 2 to me and would remain so if they're fit and playing how they have so far.

I really like the look of Jones and think he has a bright future but don't buy the job security aspect. Waterman just earned a contract so he's at least going to be putting pressure on and he's one of those awkward too good for VFL guys. Stringer is in the mix somewhere. Going too tall is an option but it's very unlikely to work, especially given both Hooker and Wright are suspect at ground level and Jones is unproven (way he moves he should be good though I think). Even if you buy the job security I don't think the scoring potential is very good and he's going to be a pure spike score play.

There are a lot of alternatives that have much better cash generation potential.

Jones is that nice, if the ass falls out, pick for mine. I'd be genuinely surprised if he was a rookie who hurt anyone who doesn't pick him. He's the classic "it's his spot to lose" choice where if he doesn't lose the spot he'll be a very solid slow burner. The problem is if he loses the spot he'll have made no cash in the mean time. FWIW, I saw enough from him to think you persist with him anyway and he's going to be a good one.

Cahill's scoring potential doesn't matter much if he can't get a game. I'd say he's fringe 22 and will need to perform well each week to keep his spot. Not sure he's worth the premium price.

Stringer won't have any bearing on Jones. We'll shuffle players around to fit Stringer in - more likely one of the smalls (Snelling) drops out and we go tall in attack. Jones is in our 22 barring injury or a shocking run of form.

I see Jones as a bit like King last year. Most only picked him because he would get games, not expecting much scoring. Only takes a spike game where he scores 90+ to see his price skyrocket. I think Jones is one of the safer rookie picks this year and I'm surprised he's only in 7% of teams.
Both Jones and Cahill are way lower in ownership than I would have thought.

Think many have a combo of Ziebell, Daniher, Rowe, Treacy, Brockman, Dow forward then a mix of other players (over a long tail) combined with 1-2 premiums.

Even the mid rookies are not as standing out, with Gulden, Downie and Powell the most prominent. Expect many have placeholders.

Can agree to disagree on this. I personally don’t see any threats to Jones spot. Hooker will play defence imo, especially given Stewart and Hurley are both injured. Can’t imagine we make first gamer Reid play FB and Ridley CHB. Reid would ideally take the second tall.

Waterman is more that third tall type.

Agree that Jones is unlikely to burn

Ben Rutten is against this move reason young Zach Reid is likely to be given a chance at full back Round 1

I don't really see which <$123k rookies are as safe as Jones is from a JS perspective. Flynn yes, Rowe and Gulden probably. As I see it, every other $123k and under rookie is just a poor game or two away from being dropped. Jones may not be the highest scorer but at least he'll be playing - sometimes that's all you need from a bench rookie. Rookies can't make money if they're playing in the VFL.

Jones is pretty mobile for a tall. Can see him pushing up to the flanks/wings to take uncontested marks while Wright and Hooker play deeper. Spike game potential is there if he can snag a few goals.

I'm currently running 4 cheap rookies in the forward line: Warner, Rowe, Bergman and Fullarton. But there's a good chance Bergman doesn't even play and it sounds like Jones could be more reliable than Fullarton, so he'll probably find a way in out of necessity.

question is who ranks between Jones and Rowe. Adelaide much weaker than Essendon, Rowe I think the better player based on maturity.

I rank Treacy below these guys. Not sure which way I go if I need to choose between them, think Jones goes.

Does anyone know of any update on Cripps? There were whispers where he saw the specialist after the last game but i can't find anything substantial on that and/or the outcome?

Can only assume that no news is good news. I think he was just spotted heading for a scan which are quite common and generally precautionary.

Not gonna lie, Titch will be mighty tempting if he lines up round 1. As Jonathan Brown would say you don't run on your face (or shoulder in this case), the fitness base should still be there. Obviously going to take a hit on the tackle aspect of his scoring though one would think.
Last year he averaged 124 when he managed 5+ tackles, and 105 otherwise. I was using tackles as an indicator of when he was finally right last year, and it worked pretty well.
