FDs have a habit of turning up anyway. I think this year I’m not going to have a specific one, as I there’s always a rookie that gets dropped early and there goes an extra position of potential cash gen. If that makes sense. It’s not ideal re. optimizing scheduling and flexibility of your FD but losing cash or being short on one line and needing to use a trade is less ideal.
I spent a bit of fun time researching the answer, without luck
If you mean Joshua Kelly, then the question should have said 'Home and Away' games, because in the 2019 Grand Final Joshua Kelly scored 64 and in the 2018 Elimination Final scored 18.
I originally had A.Fyfe in the defence but it looks like Murray, Kosi and Highmore will all get up for Round 1. Don't like running donut players in the mid but may have no choice now.

Interesting HS article reposted here on impact of rule changes. Reiterates some of the thinking here that the distributors / players taking more uncontested marks might benefit

Geelong perfected (almost) the keepings off game last year. The demolition of Collingwood in the finals was prob the best example. Will be interesting to see whether they continue it. Could go next level

I'm not 100% sure about this change benefitting Geelong's very static and slow buildup. The same style of play that made it so hard for anyone else to beat them made it almost impossible for them to beat Richmond.

I think there is a case for it, they've already perfected the retention part of it and the new rules should make the flipping the switch to attack a lot easier. Work it until you get the angle for the two angled kicks and take on the corridor more.
The question is whether Scott will allow them to do that, I've always found they're at their best on the jailbreak when it comes to scoring.
Also worth mentioning that they were well on top for the first half and then choked completely in the 2nd half when the pressure dialed up a bit so it's not like they couldn't win.

Anyone starting with no on field defender rookies? I only see Butts as someone who could score on field worthy scores, have Clark at D6 with Butts and Kosi on the bench. Murray I think goes straight out when Talia comes in, Highmore there is not much confidence for long term job security.

Yes. Share similar concerns which is why Clark or Cumming will start at D6 with both Koschitzke and Highmore on the bench. Can correct if necessary by moving Clark to the midfield and trading out one of my fwd rookies/mid pricers via B Campbell.

Potentially. On the other hand, longer quarters and even more older players might take a toll. Geelong's back half isn't set up for quick ball movement at all either. They've been at it with this style of play for some time now so it might not be as simple as flicking a switch. Perhaps it's just me hoping we won't be subjected to more Geelong and Chris Scott this September.
Saying it was almost impossible for Geelong to beat Richmond is probably inaccurate. Better to say they needed everything to go right, and for a half it almost did. When Richmond raised the pressure in both their games late last season Geelong's setup simply couldn't hold up with or without the ball. They were too tall, too old and too slow.
Chris Scott has already talked about the difficulties this season brings, short preseason, longer quarters, going back to 22 rounds and finally he is going to be resting players. If he thinks a player needs a rest, that will happen. Most teams might be managing their lists this way. Makes for interesting choices on our benches if this occurs regularly.
