Fyfe v Jelly v Danger.
Fyfe suits my bye setup better, but I'm getting spooked at the prospect of him spending extra time forward.

Dom Tyson or Paddy Dow?
I go Dow cause Tyson has iffy JS
For a Def bench spot -
Non rd 1 Murray v pricey slow burn Cox?
there’s still hope for Murray but I would wait and hope there’s other options to be announce soon

Short vs Duggan + $71k?

I know that's pretty much impossible to answer without knowing what the $71knis for. Would literally be sitting in the bank over the weekend in case I need to swap out rookies for more expensive ones. As it stands, I have $2k in the bank.

I think Short is going to love these new rules, expect him to be one of the top defenders this year - so Short for me.

Doing my head in as Seagull proven over last 2 seasons as top defender. McRae 3 seasons 120 + and Fyfe proven 115+ gun.

Different positions makes it tough. Who comes on field and who comes into your 30 with each option?

All things being equal, I think Stewart due to less rookie options at present down back.
Ditto for Stewart. More upside and pushes a much worse player off the field.

1 'I hope they turn into a premium' spot left in my side and I am struggling with it hard.

Taranto v De Goey v Phillips.

Keen to get some thoughts!
Turning into a premium it's Phillips every day of the week for mine. Forwards look weak this year, 95 is probably a genuine premium and 90 from Phillips' price would do the job, something he's done before.

De Goey has the same but needs to score a bit more and has significant durability concerns. He definitely has more explosive upside though and could be in the F1-3 group at season's end if he stays fit. Serious IF.

Taranto needs probably 105 barring a big change in midfield scoring, 102 in a chaotic season. That's his career best to date. Durability a concern here also.

Taranto is almost certainly the "best" of them in the event that none of them are keepers though which probably has some value as the downside of the picks.

Crisp vs Mcdonald vs Daniel vs Ridley vs Mills?

Currently have it in that order, but the large % ownership of Daniel is making me nervous.
Ridley > Daniels > Mills > Crisp >>> McDonald for mine.

Ridley is an intercept, rebound and kick-in player. The holy trinity for defenders. Preseason niggle the only real negative here.

Daniels - Kick-in and rebound player with solid durability. Tags are the risk factor here.

Mills - Elite junior midfield stepping into one of the weakest midfields will be a prime role. Elite kick, elite in the contest and projects to be the best midfielder at the Swans and has 115+ potential as a midfielder. Concussion a big worry leading into the season. No proven scoring history in the role a concern. If he ends up in defense I think last year was an anomaly of a scoring season and he's overpriced for a defender because Lloyd. He's by far the biggest risk/reward pick in the group. He's either the best or the worst

Crisp - Rebounder with the odd kick-in, elite durability. Last year an anomaly of a season for him in a year with highly irregular scoring patterns, Howe missed most of the season and the Pies were too stagnant. Has been the 82-89 scorer that his type of player generally is for 4 of the 5 seasons prior to last year, the 5th year is a 96 that probably is outside the D6 range assuming no massive downward shifts.

McDonald - Elite finish to the season and was an elite junior. Not a very good player (hasn't stopped Lloyd), Ziebell, Corr and Young down back probably all steal kick-ins and a new coach are all big unknowns for a guy who has to be a premium.

The new rules suit all, Mills as a midfielder probably benefits the least on preseason evidence but he's a great spread player so is also the type of inside and outside combination who should benefit from the rule, think a Pendles type as the best comparison I can find.

Personally like Stewart and Laird above Mills, so if also taking Lloyd, they'd be my first 5 to choose from, I think if going 6 you should be taking some value in a Short/Doch type pick personally.

Great insight. I agree with your take on Daniels, Ridley and Mcdonald. At this point I'm leaning towards Ridley/Crisp and considering a cheaper Super POD (<5% ownership) too.

Another thing I noticed was the drastic shift in Crisp's kicking efficiency over the years. Was super dodgy early on in his career, but with more practice in the backline over the years, his skills have drastically improved. Very noticeable last season and was extremely reliable/surprisingly creative when he had the time.

This season with the additional space I can certainly see him being a main contributor in transitioning the play (will be in our defence a lot too). Has never really taken kick-ins, so even if he gets 0 this season not much of a change.

Laird or Short.

Cash is spare so makes no difference elsewhere but it does seriously reduce cash reserves which I don't like much. But I do like Laird. If Laird, as one of the few reliable mids the Crows have can he handle a tag if he gets one? Don't recall if he has needed to deal with a regular hard tag before. Or will most teams think we can just beat them in a shoot out so lets not bother.
