I didnt think he looked that bad playing for GWS
Was pretty average defensively both with his intent at the contest and his running the other wayfrom.what I saw.

Repeat efforts didn't really appear to be a strong suit either from the games I watched him in and that magical trio of shortcomings is almost guaranteed to get a rookie onto a coaches ****list.

Sharp if picked would go to the top of the list to be honest. He looked great. Worry is he's still in HS so could go in and out around that a bit. Endurance wise he's already in the top .1% of the AFL, physically he's got a lot of size to add but he can run like very few who've ever played AFL and that will be his entire game to start out with.
I'll back that up to a tee. He looked like the rookie of the year in that half he played. The sort you wished your club picke dup in the off season. Fast. Real fast. And he can play too. Nice kick on him and he didn't look out of place at the level, though admitedly it was against the Suns in a preseason match. Must weigh about 45kilos dripping wet though and he will miss plenty of games due to school.

For anyone thinking of a Fyfe FD, I'd consider going the extra 15k and get a FDTP in Sharp. Will definitely get games this year.

Always the way, rookies no one expects bob up, like Berry. Very welcome news.
What is Sharp’s JS like?
Clark down to Sharp allows for a tasty upgrade elsewhere.
Sharp will get a chance I think, his profile really only suits a wing/high HF role, both great fantasy roles but also roles the Lions have plenty of. That said he'll miss games because of school, would be pretty surprised if he played more than 15 games. Think he will basically play HF.

Much prefer the idea of Clark on field though, if he works out he'll be a great scorer or you can dump him to Sharp in a couple of weeks

Donut only makes sense to me if your emergency and/or vice go HAM. It's a very limited rookie crop and giving yourself one less shot at them is going to cost way more in the long run. Would need to be looking at a solid 180+ this week I reckon to even consider him in the mids.

Otherwise I see no issues with those names.

Problem was I made Dusty VC , not expecting him to go that big.

I will loop Scott off the bench tomorrow night and see what he scores and then work out whether I go a donut or make Merrett captain.

With questionable rookies as it is certainly didn't want to deliberately start a donut.

I couldn't find a tweet yesterday regarding Harry Sharp, nothing official, but there were a couple posted, see below.
They're doing media on him. I'd expect an announcement/social media video today if he's actually going to debut, otherwise it's probably just an attempt to get in the news for a good luck story - "we're rolling out the same decent team" doesn't get the listeners or pundits engaged.

I'd be surprised if Sharp plays early in the season.

“He looks like he’s going to be able to play at the level at some point in time,” F a g a n said.
Mathieson and Yolmen are much more likely (to play)
18-year-old schoolboy
Lions thought Sharp would be a 2022 debutant when drafted
they were worried about his size against men.

Also, Sharp is not the ideal player for a FDTP (Floating Donut To Play) because the Lions have many early games.

As an owner at half time I felt like a bit of luck fell our way - his goal was more right place right time than much else. He looked really soft at times which was a view voiced here frequently. If you own him tho I wouldn't stress too much. He still scored 60 which isnt what you might have hoped but far from a disaster. If he's dropped then he's gonna give you the cash to do a couple things before next round. With some of his efforts last night I think he's a reasonable chance to lose his place in the side. @NT.Thunder - looks like you were wrong! He's gonna get dropped even sooner

If he holds his spot then he's every chance to do 60-70 next week and at that point his BE will be -30ish.

Watched him closely, even as a non-owner. 100% right about being in the right spot at the right time. I made a point not to check SC scores until half time as I at least wanted to enjoy one half of a game this season. I was thinking his score could go either way but my gut told me it would be up there at half time and I think it was around 55. But like you said, those points fell into his lap, tbh I wouldn't have been surprised to see his score around 30 either. He really does have poor decision making skills which IMO come from him being concious of the physicality in the contest. He has speed away from the contest, but it's like he just can't wait to get the feck out of there and not get hit.

There's a few to come back in IIRC, certainly Williams who will also take more CBA's from Dow, Richmond are typically a hard team to score midfield points against aren't they,, but hard to see upside in Dow.

There's cash tied up in him and the first couple of rounds are made for corrections, I have no problems burning 4 trades over the next few weeks, I'll likely move Cripps on, didn't like what I saw there, but not sure who, I'm really interested to see how Phillips goes as the new format does look made for him.

I don’t have him and was sitting very nervously at HT.

His CBAs were lower than you would’ve expected with ZWilliams and JMartin out.

Might be a chance to lose his spot in the team. I think he’ll probably lose his spot in the CBs in any case with the return of ZWilliams. Walsh, Cripps, ZWilliams, Curnow seems the clear top 4.

Rumours going around that he's in...

Just talked to a bloke in the know-Sharp is in the 23. And very excited about it.
Harry Sharp will be named in the 22. He is playing.
However neither of these guys have any track record, positive or negative.

(Article from yesterday, still think he is in the potential pile but would be good to see the kid get a chance to play)

Sharp, who attends St Laurence's College in south Brisbane, has clearly made his mark with Zorko since arriving at the Lions.

"If he does get selected he'll bring a lot of excitement. He's a very hard runner which is something we need and he's a great acquisition," Zorko said.

"He carries himself so well he's a very mature young man."

Sharp is just one of several Lions putting their hand up to face the Swans, in a sign of Brisbane's depth heading as they aim to quickly erase the pain of last year's preliminary-final defeat to Geelong.

"Tom Fullarton, Connor Ballenden for that Dan McStay role, and Rhys Mathieson - potentially Harry Sharp, Cam Ellis-Yolmen, Dev Robertson - there's a headache there for Fages and the coaches group," Zorko said
