Watched him closely, even as a non-owner. 100% right about being in the right spot at the right time. I made a point not to check SC scores until half time as I at least wanted to enjoy one half of a game this season. I was thinking his score could go either way but my gut told me it would be up there at half time and I think it was around 55. But like you said, those points fell into his lap, tbh I wouldn't have been surprised to see his score around 30 either. He really does have poor decision making skills which IMO come from him being concious of the physicality in the contest. He has speed away from the contest, but it's like he just can't wait to get the feck out of there and not get hit.

There's a few to come back in IIRC, certainly Williams who will also take more CBA's from Dow, Richmond are typically a hard team to score midfield points against aren't they,, but hard to see upside in Dow.

There's cash tied up in him and the first couple of rounds are made for corrections, I have no problems burning 4 trades over the next few weeks, I'll likely move Cripps on, didn't like what I saw there, but not sure who, I'm really interested to see how Phillips goes as the new format does look made for him.
Cripps is an interesting one because he was unbelievable in the first half. I also didn't check SC scores till half time and I honestly felt like Cripps first half score should've been much higher. At one point, I heard the commentators say he had 6 score involvements and was going at 100% DE, I was fully expecting an 80-90 pt half.

Not sure why Carlton would take out the best midfielder in the first half and not just rest him forward, but play him forward for most of the 2nd half. My best guess is that they just got done by a combination of the interchange cap, round 1 legs and their frenetic gamestyle, that they actually didn't have the rotations to rest him on the bench (ended up with 91% TOG). Given he spent no time forward in the first half and looked completely spent like most of Carlton in the 2nd half, points to this not being part of the gameplan. Will be interested to see how Carlton adjust next week, while their gamestyle is great to watch I'm not sure its sustainable.

As an owner at half time I felt like a bit of luck fell our way - his goal was more right place right time than much else. He looked really soft at times which was a view voiced here frequently. If you own him tho I wouldn't stress too much. He still scored 60 which isnt what you might have hoped but far from a disaster. If he's dropped then he's gonna give you the cash to do a couple things before next round. With some of his efforts last night I think he's a reasonable chance to lose his place in the side. @NT.Thunder - looks like you were wrong! He's gonna get dropped even sooner

If he holds his spot then he's every chance to do 60-70 next week and at that point his BE will be -30ish.
Will be interesting. My gut feel is Carlton will want to persist with him. His good stuff was good but he also had a couple of howlers. Seems to run around a lot but not get involved. I noticed a couple of times teammates would see him open but not handball. I guess it's just a confidence thing on all fronts. The positive for me was he was playing a midfield role.

Considering bringing Downie back in for someone like Rowe (swing Brockman fwd).

Had Downie all pre-season thinking his scoring potential would be pretty good if he got a game... higher risk given his lesser JS than Rowe but can always go back to Rowe if Downie is dropped and Rowe scores well (which I doubt he will).

Brockman v Downie? After reading the forums seems like Downie could potentially be concussion sub but also people seem to think Brockman is on the chopping block once Wingaard comes back?

He has Brockman with high job security?
Wingard could rob Brockman of his spot when he comes back.

How are people ranking Berry, Brockman and Downie? Matt crouch's return seems like it will happen randomly, doesn't sound like it will be soon though. Hately any chance of taking his spot? Berry looks the best pick but that 13 from 44% game time, where he attended 5 CBA's doesn't look too good. Still he seems like the best of the 3 doesn't he?

I reckon McNeil because he is cheaper. I'm not 100% convinced that when the season starts that Bruhn will be confined to a forward pocket like he was in the AAMI series, but there's a good chance he is and for that reason save the money. Bruhn's job security looks good but probably isn't good enough to warrant the extra money.
