Seems the kind of injury where week 4 would be the best case with a pretty big fitness hit (luckily he's at the absurd level for that to start with). Round 6 seems the more reasonable estimate, which makes him a round 10 target but given GWS round 12 bye, probably a round 13 target and dodge a bye.

Personally want to see a pretty solid run from him before jumping given the significance of the injury.

Also with the way the backs look set to score this year I'm not really sure he's needed right now. Would need to go to a higher level to demand selection.

It's a week to week proposition, so round 4 earliest, being optimistic, could actually be round 7 or 8, who knows. I'm sure we'll hear about training runs in a couple of weeks.
Given the nature of the injury surely he hasn't been able to do much in the way of strenuous activity over the past 4-5 weeks?

Can't see him getting back into AFL games without doing a solid 4 week training block to get some running back into the legs first.

Sam Edmund on sen1116 confirms PCL for Rowell.
The Gold Coast SUNS can confirm that Matt Rowell is set to miss an extended period of time as he recovers from a knee injury.

Scans have confirmed that the second - year midfielder sustained damage to his PCL in a tackle during the first quarter of the team’s Round 1 loss to the West Coast Eagles.

No timeline has been set for his return at this early stage, but he is expected to be available to play football again in 2021.

Gold Coast SUNS General Manager Football Jon Haines recognised the way in which the young midfielder had handled himself during difficult circumstances.

“It’s unfortunate for Matt as he had worked tirelessly to ensure he was ready to play after recovering from the shoulder injury he suffered last season,” Haines said.

“The long - term health of his knee is positive. There is no specific timeline for his return at this stage and we will update as required”.
A full injury update will be available on goldcoastfc.com.au later today.

The Gold Coast SUNS will take on North Melbourne at Metricon Stadium on Saturday night as part of a double header with the final round of the AFLW premiership season.

GRAND Final pair Zach Tuohy and Jack Henry are in the frame to replace Geelong superstar Patrick Dangerfield as he prepares to reduce his pending suspension on Tuesday night.

But gun midfielder Mitch Duncan is expected to be sidelined for at least another week with his calf complaint.

When Duncan is fit, surely it would be Zach Guthrie that goes out not Clark. Guthrie was almost unsighted v crows, he is very much a fringe player - I was surprised he was picked for round 1, don't rate him myself.
