I don't have Ridley, obviously playing well and will be a top 6 defender, I'm unable to fit him in with my current structure, so he can wait. At his price, he's only going up by $40k max over a couple of rounds before he peaks. So I've missed his points, maybe after the round 7 bye. 😜
Same boat.

Im happy to wait a couple weeks and go one of the mid pricers I have up to Ridley, playing the long game while the more casual coach just burns through their trades with sideways moves, gaining points now is no use if you run out of trades at Round 18.
There’s 2 sides to that coin though. Trades aren’t much use to you if you’re 1500 points behind the leaders after 8 weeks and you need to spend the trades you’ve squirrelled away on players that those in front of you already have - just to make sure you don’t fall behind more.

I agree you need to find the balance but some players are that far in front on their line that you need to make an early restructure.

Is Chapman important?
I may be wrong but the reasons I like chapman are his pedigree (looked great in pre season), he is a mobile tall so he likely plays more fantasy friendly roles particularly with Logue likely to come back to strength the back end, hayden young is injured, in his second game he just looked like he settled into the role and was better for the run - i think his scoring upside could be quite large. If i didn't have so many bench rookie duds I might pass on him but for my team i think the timing is right to pounce.

Lol cheers Herbie.

When my rookies scores 30s it's a low risk strategy and if Burgess is named in the Ruck and sole ruck, it's a low risk.

Will be interested to check out this thread later in the week when the sad news of Witts is out and everyone realises a $210K DEF is going to be the number 1 ruck.
Zac Smith is listed as 3-4 weeks away.

Given Burgess won't increase in price next weekend, there is a chance he only manages 2 price rises as sole ruck before Smith returns.

Brice Mitchell has projected Burgess to make 91k with 2 price rises and 118k with 3 price rises if he averages 80.

I'm not sure he is worth it?

North Melb.
Impey is tempting for sure. Almost the same price as Tex last week and it's tempting to try to replicate how that went.

Thing is, he's either a trade in as keeper (I'm not quite buying a 90 average from here... 80-85 I think sounds realistic?) or a trade in and out to make $150k. Does he hit 3-4 more weeks of 90s to get that cash gain? I think it's 50/50 .

Having 2nd thoughts on Impey because I passed on him last week, so I’m pretty torn to pay the 75K premium on him. With these mid priced options I’ve kind of always been of the opinion to either commit or let them pass after you miss them.
I really like Chapman, taking him goes against where I want my structure to be because it means fielding a forward rookie until I can swing things back, but I think he’s an excellent cash gen option going forward. I will likely field Rowe against North, and then either Rowe against Freo or Scott against GC. Don’t really want to look any further than that because I’m hoping it’s a short term structure. It’s just hard to know how close these midpriced guys I don’t have like Impey and Tex get to top 6. Tex obviously has an excellent chance now that he has runs on the board, and has a favourable draw to put more on. Really struggling on the forwards. Got Dunkley, don’t really want Dusty at his ownership. I’d say I will probably go after Dangerfield next, and then hopefully have a clearer picture on some targets.

I'm worried that Logue ruins Chapmans scoring to be honest, very similar type of defenders.

3 rounds is too soon to be definitive on anything, coaches are going to have a big impact on how this season plays out, we already saw Clarko slow the game down on the weekend.

I'm considering both Bowes and Bunga Hurn for my Young replacement. I see both having a legit shot at finishing as top 6-8 defenders, although competition is obviously super stiff this season on the DEF line. Anyone have a strong opinion either way on those two players?

Unfortunately I don't have the coin to go up to say a Mills for instance who I'd love to own in SC too (already an owner in DT). I also like Cumming as a stepping stone option. However I'm already bringing him in for Young in AFL Fantasy this week so want to diversify my portfolio a little more. Just in case injury or some other misfortune befalls a certain player as it has when it struck me down with Young across all formats this week.

I could also throw $500K at either a MID or FWD instead (via DPP) but no one is really jumping out at me as a top of their line option except maybe Butters. But that would ruin my MID/FWD link which I would prefer to preserve right now. Yes there's Tex too of course but that ship has mostly sailed already. So it seems a little desperate to be jumping on now.

So as it stands right now it's probably either Bowes or Hurn for Young (plus bank) unless I can be persuaded otherwise by the good folk here.
What's your team like?

I am just going to suck it up with Neale and keep him. It may ruin my year but I am holding now unless he is an LTI. I'm hoping to bank some decent cash cows to make up for the $$ lost from the dodgy premo pick and hope he comes good.

Cahill to Waterman Friday night and then Dow to Chapman later on in the round if there are no surprises. I really like Robertson and if he backs it up against the dogs I should have the money to start upgrade season the week after including a downgrade to him.
I'm not saying keep or trade but..
I am not sure sucking up a mistake the following week because of a cash drop makes sense if
new information has come to light that shows that it was indeed a mistake not to trade.

For example, I really think I am going to have to eat humble pie and pay the extra 75k for Impey. I am tempted to let him go because of my previous mistake in not recognising great value, but with another weeks worth of info, it does appear that he could well sit at F6 all year if he can average 90 from here so long as those play makers out of the backline continue to get scored so well.

You are welcome, for the extra confusion :p
