Have my concerns with my rookie ruck lineup at the moment with the uncertainty of whether Meek stays in or not.
Have $220k in the kitty so have a few options available. 3 trades used so far and ranked about 1000th.
Annoyingly am $2k short of doing DeGoey to Waterman and Hunter to Grundy.

Option 1: DeGoey to Tex and Hunter to Hickey.
This would shore up my rucks and provide a stepping stone to get to a premo ruck in a few weeks. I think for this option to be worth it Tex needs to keep scoring at keeper level and Hickey needs to jump another $100k in the next 4 weeks (has Ess, GWS, GC, Geel) which looks a strong possibility.

Option 2: Hunter to Waterman (swing Fullarton to R3)
This assumes Hunter won't be playing and Fullarton will. Don't really like this option as Fullarton doesn't provide much coverage either if Meek is out. But could turn DeGoey into almost any mid, fwd, def.

Option 3: sit on my hands, do nothing and hope Meek keeps getting games and DeGoey plays how I was hoping he would in preseason.

Would love anyone's advice/thoughts

Contemplating a Jelly to Walsh sideways considering Jelly as a forward is not going to score well enough, but probably wont do it. Surely with their injuries in the midfield he gets an on ball role this week. Jelly in only 6% of teams is becoming a negative pod in the midfield through no fault of his own.
I did Jelly to Tex last week as an aggressive luxury downgrade since I had all the right rookies and was happy with how it worked out.

The move is harder to justify this week after price changes though since you are using a trade and locking in a 47K loss on Jelly to Walsh. It also seems a bit too sideways - like are we really certain Walsh will be a definite top 8 midfielder yet?

If you don't have Ridley or Dunkley and can't get them any other way this week, I would certainly trade Jelly to them. Otherwise I would be tempted to just hold him and hope Leon throws him back on ball.

Getting Nervous on Cripps. Was luck with two goals and a few soft fee kick. Cripps Won’t lose much over next few weeks unless he has a stinker, it’s points I’m after. Have all the good rookies. Currently top 1500.

With most eyeing of Chapman for DEF, I am thinking Lyons. Highmore should start this week and I have Kozi and Sharp on the bench.

With Neale looking to be on reduced time or even rested does Lyons become an option. One of the few whom have (3)100+ Scores beside their name after 3 rounds and only 1% ownership. Has a decent history of playing every week.

Will Leave me with 26 trades.

Is the Lyons call to risky at this point of the year.?

I'm in the same boat. I think you just have to knock it on the head. I see a few suggestions of stepping stones but the cash generation is poor and you are now using multiple trades. Fortunately we see Freo's team before Collingwood play. If Meek gets dropped I would just cut your weakest keeper for Chapman and go Meek to Grundy. Meek is not a must have rookie and if he gets dropped with all their talls missing then he is less chance when their talls come back. It would be a shame if he does get dropped because he hasn't done anything wrong. He still attended more CBA's then Darcy on the weekend. I'm hoping for 2 more games from him. I don't think it's a given that he gets dropped.

Cripps has been disappointing but at his price there is no need to move him on. I understand the frustration but not the panic.

That trade has worked out very well so far for you, well done. Tex against North could kick 12, it's scary not having him right now. Walsh I think is definitely a real chance as a top 8 mid, his contested work now compliments his outside gut running really well, he can score in wins and losses, if he cleans up his disposal he becomes a real threat as top 6 mid if he isn't already. I guess the one thing in Kelly's favour is that his floor is still a 90, if he were scoring 70s it would be far more concerning.

I've got Dunkley and Ridley and was planning on no trades this round and still can't bring myself to commit to such a sideways trade, I don't think the points differential at the end of the season will justify it but it's still an interesting proposition.

Cheers for your thoughts.

Cheers @freowho good advice. If it was Tex and Hickey at last week's prices would have been worth it.
DeGoey would have to be the keeper to cull if it comes to that as Cripps, Doc and Stewart are all doing enuf to remain

De Goey is a good option. I'm sure he has a keeper year in him but we might never see it because he's not very robust.

It’s annoying but I haven’t considered trading Jelly out - been burnt too many times by premos turning it around and wasting the trade. I had a look back through my history and I’ve never used so many trades this early in a normal year 😳. Maybe last year has given us the trading bug.
Agree.

Have not and will not consider trading unless an LTI occurs. Possibly the plan to play him forward for an extended period could be premeditated to start the season to help the possibility of playing 22 games or a niggle that is unknown to the public.

Slow start by his lofty standards but has yet to dip below 90 and a few scores of 120+ in the coming rounds will have that heading quickly to the 110+ range.

Very similar boat. i think whatever you do this week needs to leave you able to get a R1 by rd 6 at latest.

I also have Degoey and he’s looking a bust as he looks like he’ll be stuck forward and frankly he’s not shown much when getting mid time anyway. I think he ought score ok against GWS but doubt he’s a keeper so he goes this week or next for me. Ideally i’d hold a week as DeGoey breakeven is still achievable this week and you can the choose from Waterman and Holmes depending on this weeks performances but this required Meek being named and we won’t know that till two hours after Hunter locks out! (hating rolling team announcements).

I’m hoping news on Treacy selection is made early as if he’s named it would suggest Freo may go with one pure ruck. (Meek or Darcy remains to be seen).

I considered Hickey last week and wish i’d gone with it then but think the appeal is less now. He’d still take at least two more trades to get him up to a premo ruck and the risk is you get stuck with him all year.

I’d be looking at option 3 but the problem is Grundy will likely go up and Degoey may drop a little so waiting a week without doing anything mean DeGoey/Waterman will still leave you short if Hunter/Grundy. May have to be Meek/Grundy unless you can do another trade this week to give some more cash in bank?

Is Chapman important?
Depends on your team but if you've only got one D6 choice right now he can add a 2nd one who has scored well so far and is playing a solid role.

I don't think he's a must have in isolation but in reference to the rest of your team he might be a smart play.

Parks also looked very decent on the weekend and Burgess is a potential premium rookie choice next week so if you've got a couple of backs playing then I'd probably wait.

There's definitely an exceptional willingness to sideways trade this year, it's like people have forgotten that last year was a free trades season and that it will happen again when the likelihood is that we're looking at a normal season and blowing 4 or 5 correction trades is suicide.

He also had 5 marks and 2 goals which is well above his average of doing absolutely nothing. I don't see the appeal and would take Chapman before him.
If he's the #1 ruck there is appeal, especially given he showed a bit in followup and around the ground work but he'd have to earn the spot this week for mine given the significant premium in price.

The bloke is only listed at 191 cm....is he really their only fall back ruck option? Surprised he even managed to win 8 hit outs
Caleb Graham about the only other option right now and he's not much bigger.

Has serious springs but to be fair believe the majority of those hitouts came against Frampton in the backup battle.

Who should I sideways swap out of Daniel, Stewart and Short? Not smart I know.
Read the 2nd part of your statement. You have answered your own question.

Heck, read the first part. The fact that you know it's a sideways move should cancel any further thought on the idea.

Any other Neale owners tempted to move to Ridley?

Very seriously considering myself. Ridley just does everything the SC system rewards so damn well, want him while he's still affordable and have genuine concerns on just how 'not great' these Neale back scans were.

Leaning towards Neale/A.Fyfe to Ridley/Chapman.

Bowes and Impey vs Lloyd and Chapman as trade ins?
I'd probably go with option A. Both Impey and Bowes have good roles and likely quite underpriced still. Bowes should remain a D6 keeper and Impey could end up being a F6 type, if things go well, or at least a decent stepping stone with good onfield points week to week.

Chapman could certainly prove a profitable cash cow, I can't argue against that, but there is risk involved. And Lloyd is obviously still a top 6 defender but probably still overpriced after losing some kick-ins to Dawson and others. So I'd wait a little longer before jumping on there. Though slight disclaimer I already own Lloydy so personally hope he goes huge tomorrow night. :p

He's been disappointing JDG as I was expecting a minimum 50-50 mid-fwd split. Elliott going down didn't help of course.
Still, he was supposedly a little crook last week and rd 1 was against the Doggies who look like they will dominate SC points in a lot of games.
No other alternative for myself really to get the money for Hunter to Grundy, so if Meek plays I'll just hold onto the cash and reassess next week.
Could do Koschitzke to Chapman if Kosi is dropped, but that feels like 1 too many correction trades for mine

Hopefully we do get some clarity from Longmuir in the next couple of days.

Not in a panic, just cannot see him on the top 15MIDS by end of the year, Looking at the last game take away the two goals and it’s another 80+ game.

Talk of injury management is my real concern.?

I've given my Young situation some more thought and even though Bowes and Houston are tempting options for my own particular side and bye structure I think I'll hold Young this week. With Freo playing the last game of the round I can use him for both VC and DEF E opportunities. I really want to go Grundy VC into Gawn C anyway and that allows me to do that.

Effectively benching a $280K player for a week shouldn't hurt points production too much and in fact could even help, depending on how the loopholeing works out. It even gives me the option on Sunday to go Young down to Chapman should I decide to go that way.
