Bowes and Impey vs Lloyd and Chapman as trade ins?
Lloyd will be harder to bring in later, his standard deviation is just so low that you'll need to make 3 trades to get him in.

Bowes is unproven, however is playing well.

Impey is a potential 90-95pt player at a cheap price.

No easy answers for this one, reckon it depends on what you see Impey doing, and what your coverage is at D6 and F6 (as Chapman and Impey play different positions).

I'd probably go Lloyd, knowing that there are other fallen premiums that can replace Bowes' output. Lloyd is unique, and his high output is depressing for coaches that don't have him (I don't have Lloyd).

De Goey is a good option. I'm sure he has a keeper year in him but we might never see it because he's not very robust.
Just realised DeGoey to Chapman wouldn't work at that point for me as Scott and Campbell are my M/F swings and both will have played before Freo team is announced.
Hopefully Longmuir confirms Meek in or out early

Getting Nervous on Cripps. Was luck with two goals and a few soft fee kick. Cripps Won’t lose much over next few weeks unless he has a stinker, it’s points I’m after. Have all the good rookies. Currently top 1500.

With most eyeing of Chapman for DEF, I am thinking Lyons. Highmore should start this week and I have Kozi and Sharp on the bench.

With Neale looking to be on reduced time or even rested does Lyons become an option. One of the few whom have (3)100+ Scores beside their name after 3 rounds and only 1% ownership. Has a decent history of playing every week.

Will Leave me with 26 trades.

Is the Lyons call to risky at this point of the year.?
Great call imho

Is it possible to feel gunshy and trigger happy at the one time? That's how I'm feeling about trades at the moment.

I think the rolling team announcement thing is getting to me.
It's time to be holding trades. Unless you have a donut on field or an injury issue you should not be trading. Dow is the sole exception to this rule as he has less midfield presence than a grey pigeon.

The Grey Pigeon objects to this comparison. He had 23 CBAs in the Cats v Hawks game. I thought his clearance work was excellent.

I disagree sorry. If there's any issues that need to be sorted they need to be done earlier rather than later. There's nothing wrong with changing structures early, IMO the sooner you rectify issues the better. I'm not a fan of sideways trades but I'd have no issues in moving say a Neale to Grundy/Gawn.

Great if you can hold trades, but #1 priority for me is to always get the team setled to a point where I can let it run it's course for a few weeks.

Especially so when you have $400k sitting in the bank, as I do.

Personally think 2021 is presenting a number of different opportunities (even after 3 rounds)

Almost need to adjust our thinking of years gone past and adapt.

People commenting already about benches not generating enough cash (realistically I have 2 , maybe 3 that will generate enough $$$)

Get creative when trading to create $$$.

The value and scoring are in the defence & forward lines , take a chance now why they are still their.

Sure could hold onto trades and be very easily 1200 points off the pace by Round 8 , yes I get not everyone's focus is on overall.

Sometimes we all need to try something different

First up, I think you can argue that Neale is an injury trade out. Second, if you have gone a ruck option that is now screwed by selections then I suppose you have no other option than to try and fix it. However, if you are trying to force a trade by going Daniel to Ridley both of whom are top 6 defenders then you are wasting trades big time, just be patient and wait until 2 rookies have matured and then Ridley.

If you are also blessed with heaps of cash, then upgrading a marginal midpricer or rookie to a premo seems like a no brainer.

Because this option locks in 4 trades, 2 now plus 2 in the future, while Lloyd & Chapman is only 3. Sideways trading now means you will end up short of 22 premiums come seasons end.
That can be true and it can still be a good trade. With the money Impey makes, you may need one less rookie trade to get to a full team. Plus there is the chance he becomes a decent F6 but I wouldn't rely on that.

So IIRC you previously had the option to move Dow and/or Daniher to Tex a round or two ago and maybe chose to hold? If you had your time again and knowing what you know now would you have made the trade?

With Waterman, Parks, Robertson and Burgess all likely to be potential trade in options next week before their price rise, is it worth going early on any of them? If so, which one do we think carries the least risk going early on?

Waterman will probably struggle to score 80s very often given his role in a side that will most likely struggle this year, but he is a mature ager he could play fairly consistently.

Parks played well on debut and could have a spike game given his ability to intercept, however does Marchbank push him out of the side?

Robertson is priced at a premium but probably has the best scoring potential of the lot. I guess job security is the biggest question mark.

Burgess could be anything for the next few weeks. He could score 100s or 20s, nobody knows. I guess he has solid job security but at 210k it could end up being a problem.

I personally would say Robertson and Waterman would be the safest options to go early on but I'd love to here some other thoughts.

Would have loved to have made that trade, however the Kosi/Clark/Highmore/Sharp mix from D5-8 meant having to hold a change until the last game was named in case of donuts. The plus side is, i've only used 2 trades, and am scoring well and with plenty of rookies (10) earning nicely, I can play patient. Dow will get culled down to Chapman, which frees up $60k. Then, barring injuries its a two-three week wait to start the upgrade cadence.

I would advise against going early. Burgess the only one with solid JS (assuming he will ruck some?) and he's 200k+. I would rather wait a week and just grab the best 2. Been burnt too many times going early on rookies.
