I think you have me mistaken for someone else.

I would be cautious of Whitfield's return (whenever that may be) but for the time being he should be a solid option if you are weak down back or heavily rely on Kosi/Sharp being named, as well as hopefully providing a quick avenue to a Lloyd/Ridley/Stewart type.
Believe it was @Professor that was recommending him, he has been proven to be correct.
I stand corrected! Sorry @Connoisseur!

Full credit to @Professor! Don't think I've seen you're current team but did you end up going with Cumming?!

No biggie, there's so many names that pop up, it's hard to keep track of, @Herbie66 has been an advocate of Cumming. I'm too scared to go through my posts to find it lol. Unfortunately not in my side, but glad he's doing well for others.

Jiath was cheaper again and is scoring more , but of course I pick Fantasia instead 😀

Not too late to pick them up , look better than some of the $ 500+ defenders at the moment.

Should have included an emoji after the opening sentence to convey that I was kidding, since I brought up my displeasure in the decision to start Clark over Cumming earlier this week.

Do not let @Professor take all the credit
thanks Herbie, don't like the Cumming pick, prefer Taylor, he only played a half and was on top of the leader board at half time. Was injured last year, actually sick, got an infection which penetrated his leg, hip and back, could hardly walk, didn't know if he would walk again, lost 10kg. I assume he's back now and GWS easing him in. He's a lockdown defender, but gets more touches than your usual lockdown type. Jiath doesn't interest me, he needs another season Buckley same, if things don't go as I expect, I can always downgrade, especially if a solid rookie choice appears, but atm I'll remain steadfast on my views. Keep them coming Herbie. 😁

So a 12 - 2 - 3 -5 (premo, mid pricer, premo rookie, rookie structure. $11k kitty.

Defence: I like defenders getting a role change. Laird, Mills, Williams can go premo, Harmes might, but can still go 95 and make enough $. Duggan and Cumming closely considered. McDonald, I can't go past his 2nd half of the season - can he do a Lloyd and be a super premo scoring defender? Tough to bring in Lloyd/Ryan given their R14 bye... Perhpas 1 prior? Lloyd overpriced for mine, will purchase for $550k at some point.

Mids: I'm locking in 4 best, most durable mids. Not starting Cripps/Wowell b/c shoulders.

Rucks: Preuss is the best value player in the comp IMHO, even with a tough start. Allows me to start the best mids.

Forwards: I like rucks/mids listed as forward. The most reliable versions of this are: Dunkley, (I trust his mid time will hold), Marshall easy and Dusty (yes there is low early scoring, but I don't consider it a given, unless the coach says so). The 3 premo rookies. Danger is in 30% of teams, upgrade target for mine. Redefining the no KPF rule to no KPF premo or MP player.

I see my injury risks as petty low beyond Zac/Daniher/Cockatoo 2 of which are rookies anyway with better JS than regular ones.

This pushes me out to 5 onfield rookies including cockatoo, but short on Campbell who I'd like. In theory I could be rookie free heading into the byes painting the fence most weeks into the the byes.

I'm very heavy on R14 premos/MPs with 8, very light on R12: 2. I just don't see players from: GC, GEE, GWS, HAW, NM and PA. If I need to balance it up, its probably Jelly for me.

View attachment 26067

Path to full premo Rookie> Lloyd + Harmes>Ryan/Whitfield
Rookies 4x > Titch, Jelly, and 2 of Macrae/Bont/Treloar (in that order probs)
Rucks - you get it.
Forwards: premo rookies to: Danger, potentially a fit Heeney, Sidebottom/Zorko/Walters??? These will be some of the later upgrades given their JS.

Welcome views!
Okay, here is me suggesting him for D4! Wozers, must have believed there would be defensive rookies or something. Anyways courtesy of Luke MacDonald late out round 1, slotted him in from 6 teams remaining. Very happy thus far.

(Dont read the whole thing, I also say I'm looking at Duggan) (Je zeus I wish I'd stuck to my guns on cripps)

I don't know what Cummings numbers were preseason but his role was always there and was taking kick ins IIRC over the preseason.
The role was there, it was tough to pick him after watching him turn it over constantly though. The way he played I was sure he was closer to being out of the side than turning into a good option for SC. I liked Jiath more but was concerned Clarko might not show much patience with his turnovers either, so instead I ended up with the just ok Clark. Ah well, at least I didn't go with one of the Young bros.

The 2 games I’ve seen Clark play he was very lucky to score what he has and to me he looks closer to a <40 than he does a >90. If he hadn’t of kicked that goal last week I’m sure he’d be one of the most traded out players this week from those without injury issues like Young.

I looked at my posts regarding Cumming and apart from mentioning him as the defence option Herbie was talking about averaging 90+ this round, my only mention was about getting rid of him, rather than selecting him. Specifically it was someone with the team name I.Cumming in the Terminator comp who didn't sign up for it, but that's the only thing I could come up with.

I did pick Cumming as one of my best sub-300K players to start last season, seems I might have been one season early, as I am with a lot of my cheaper defenders. I picked Ridley in 2019 and that put me off selecting him again last season when he broke out, at least I learned from my mistake. Maybe Young is a good choice for 2022 rather than this year? Clark possibly?

Well that makes me feel justified in trading him this week. Thanks for that.

@Herbie66 defender on the bubble, if you missed CJ. Injury prone like most in our forward line, 250k
Marcus Adams ?

Remember your not allowed to pick injury prone players 😉

Trying hard not to think about Jiath & Cumming and if only I started one of them instead of Fantasia.

Hickey in the ruck

Atkins , Impey , Walker , Ziebell

Could have 7 keepers with starting price between $ 200-300k.

I need a Daniel replacement and already own Ridley, Lloyd, Laird & Stewart.

Who is the next best option? I can afford anyone, so I'm currently looking at Bowes, Houston, Mills or Short.

I own the same 4 DEF premos plus CJ (quasi premo?).

Not sure there's a poor choice there - they are all going great guns. The only guy I don't own in at least one fantasy format is Houston but I'd have little hesitation going there either, as he's looking tremendous.

I'm actually deferring that decision to later in the season myself and bringing in Dunkley instead via DPP but it's really hard to see how you could go too far wrong with those 4 you nominated. Their fantasy scoring indicators all look good to me so just go with who you like most or fits in best with your team's overall bye structure.

I know last week I was struggling for Rd12 bye keepers after trading out both Danger and Phillips earlier. So that lead me in the direction of Bowes/Houston/CJ, finally settling on the value of the latter.

I need a Daniel replacement and currently have Mills laird and Stewart. I have unlimited cash and would like another pod but it is not necessary. Who do I go for?

Thanks for the comment - you make some really solid points.

I am wary of the "you can't go wrong" approach, because often you find out down the track there was actually a clear best option. For instance, at the start of the season I would have said you can't go wrong with either Short or Daniel as both should be in the mix for Top 8 defenders. Well it's only Round 4 and Daniel has lost $91,800 on the Short selection and is 145 points worse off. This mistake may be season defining for me and perhaps I should've put more thought into why Daniel was an inferior option (ie. can't take intercepts, can be easily tagged).

With this in mind, I am now trying to look at what is wrong with a player instead of what is good about them. Despite Mills & Houston getting good midfield time, I am worried their role may change week to week depending on what the team needs. I may wait and see with these two guys.

Annoyingly, % of kick ins for both Bowes & Short dropped this week with Balta & Will Powell stealing more of a share. I am a bit less keen on Bowes I think as he has never averaged over 90 before and I am uncertain on whether he will actually remain in his current role and deliver for an entire season.

This has me leaning towards Short who also has the safety of being relatively popular, so it has less chance of burning me if it goes pear shaped.
