How long do back injuries usually take for a player to be back at 100%?
Re; Neale.

Im hoping to try and talk myself out of trading this week but if Neales injury is bad for a long time then i dont know...
Sorry, but that's like asking how long is a piece of string. We have no idea what the injury is, but the noises made by both club and man don't make it sound trivial. It could be 2 weeks. It could be 6 weeks of sub standard performance, before they decide to rest him for 3 or 4 weeks. It could end his season next week.
If anyone knows anything more specific, please give us a shout!

Yeah fair enough, i mean that answer in itself is enough information for me at this point, so thank you. 👍

Curious to know what you are doing @Rowsus. Like you I held despite my rational assessment suggesting trading was the right call. Are you now trading while he retains some value given the “injury” news?

After a lot of to'ing and fro'ing, I decided to take the line of less pain. I really would have traded him last week, had we known, what we know now (and I don't mean his 89 score).
What would hurt me more?
Trade him now, and have him recover quicker than we might expect?
Hold him, and have him continue to dish up 80-100 type scores, basically playing a half each game. All until he gets to the fork in the road of "he's better now", or , "he's not getting better, we better give him a couple of weeks rest"?
Given I would have traded him last week, if we had full knowlege, I think holding him now, and having him continue to do poorly would hurt more than trading him now.
Last week it was going to be Neale to Lloyd, so I will just go ahead and do that this week, and "reset" my season to where I wanted it to be last week, just $59k and 76 points worse off, than had I done it last week.

I'm still to'ing and fro'ing because BRL won't tell us exactly what is wrong with Neale. There's another senario to consider, after Neale has recovered, will the injury come back later in the season? That's another negative that is inclining me to trade Neale out.
Now it comes down to what will hurt me less with trading him out. So, I'm leaning to trade Neale out, through a DPP for Jiath (could be a Keeper or a stepping stone), then I would only lose approx. $27K (Neale drops $80K and Jiath expected price change $53K). Also I will have an extra $308,500 in the bank.

The issue I'm looking at is ... who to bring in for Neale? Apart from Macrae (who I already have), I'm not really that confident on very many MID premiums averaging enough going forward. Steele and Oliver seem the 'safest' options, or maybe Mitchell.

Unfortunately, I can't really justify bring in another DEF premium. Only one I really want at the moment would be Lloyd, but I've already got 5 DEF premiums, plus Laird in the MID line. Plus, doing a trade like this would mean I would lose my D/M link.

In the end, I suppose a straight swap to a standard keeper MID seems the best option. Thoughts?

Have you got both Dunkley and Dusty? If not, one of them.

Otherwise I think Steele has been the most impressive of the expensive mids. In a straight XvY I would prefer Oliver but he is such an appealing first upgrade in a couple of weeks, after his GWS score and then (hopefully low) O'Connor score run through his price, that it would probably be silly to get him in beforehand.

Another reason I am going to trade Neale in for a mid-priced player is that so many premium players have a high breakeven this round. By pocketing around $300K this round, I plan to trade in a reduced priced premium later. That also reduces the pain of losing so much money on Neale's trade.

Yeah, got Dunkley & Martin. Thanks for the feedback. Already have about $100k in the bank before the trade, so really can't justify another midprice downgrade. Cheers guys.

https://www.sen.com.au/news/2021/04/08/fresh-injury-setbacks-for-saints-pair/

St Kilda midfielder Dan Hannebery has suffered yet another injury setback.

Scans confirmed a low-grade strain to Hannebery’s right calf that will keep him sidelined for a further four weeks.

It continues Hannebery’s wretched run with injury.

His pre-season was interrupted by a calf complaint and is yet to feature so far in 2021.

The 30-year-old has played just 13 matches across two injury-ravaged seasons for the Saints. His lucrative five-year contract expires at the end of 2023.

Co-captain Jarryn Geary will undergo surgery to clear scar tissue from his injured right leg.

Geary’s rehabilitation will extend by a further two to three weeks.

Ruckman Rowan Marshall (foot) has been passed fit to play against West Coast on Saturday.

St Kilda host the Eagles at Marvel Stadium, needing a response after last week's 75-point thrashing to Essendon.

Have to feel for the Anderson lads. I've watched them here in the NT for some years through Juniors and senior footy and Jed especially is such a talent that just struggles with his body. The guy would be SC Gold if he could play out seasons but sadly no.
agree, he's a gun, unfortunately he's in my locked and load team. 🙄

Are you looking to trade him in ?

Just need 3 more games from Meek and everything is going to plan.

Makes you wonder why people are so keen on Treacy if Lobb is due back then.

I guess he is just another one people label as a gun before they even debut let alone establish themselves at this level.

Actually Darcy with 91 , 90 could be interesting if he doesn't get injured again.
Speaking for myself Treacy spent the preseason at r3 with Marshall in the fwds and Gawndy r1 &2.
When Marshall became unavailable and Flynn appeared, correctly, to be a great cash cow I moved Treacy fwd to get Flynn with the thought that when Flynn fattened Marshall would be an easy upgrade and my original pre season ruck structure would apply.
These are still my plans, in my case Treacy playing is not something I'm relying on but would be a nice bonus.

What a blow...

Shuey undergoes hamstring surgery
West Coast's skipper will likely be sidelined until after the club's mid-season bye in round 13

West Coast Eagles captain Luke Shuey faces an extended period on the sidelines after this morning having surgery on a damaged left hamstring tendon.

The dynamic Eagles midfielder, one of the best afield in last Saturday night’s victory against Port Adelaide, suffered the latest in a run of soft-tissue injuries deep into the last quarter of that game.

After examining the issue this week and consulting surgeons yesterday, Shuey underwent tendon repair surgery this morning.

“Whilst disappointing for Luke and the club, the surgery is an important first step in Luke’s recovery and there is still plenty of football to played this year,” General Manager, Football, Craig Vozzo said today.

“We cannot put a time line on his return at this stage, but we expect it will be after the mid-season bye.”

The Eagles' bye is scheduled for round 13.
