You'd think it's Campbell considering his tog has decreased in the last couple of weeks. 66% and 62% tog in the last two weeks, down from 75%, 79% and 70% in the first three rounds. Warner hasn't been below 75% this season and Gulden played 91% tog last round.

Also read somewhere that Berry could be given a rest.
Campbell after a rest could still be a very viable cash cow? Competing interests - maximising cash gen and saving trades vs not falling behind on upgrade cadence.

He could be, not many rookies score 118 in their second game, even the 58 in round one wasn't a bad score, however since then it's been pretty awful, reflected by decreasing tog and also more clangers. The issue is whether he is merely "managed" for a game or if it becomes two or three weeks out. Remember this is Longmire, he would keep Tom Mitchell in the NEAFL for months.

I kind of hope Berry and Campbell get a rest. I for one will keep them both as i think they will both get plenty more games and slow burn their way to a nice final cash gen figure. I have a lot more hope of them getting 300k plus than i do Dow or Fantasia :cry:
The issue is that if you are already stocked up on McNeill, Scott, Rowe, Waterman, HJones and these types, there's only so many slow burners you can keep on holding.

yes it is a bit of an issue for sure but i have dow (sigh what a terrible pick) to go before Berry/Campbell and also clark, fantasia, gulden, warner, powell all on the block in the coming weeks too as they help me get up to someone half decent. I am just hoping some of the slow burners finally pull an elusive score to get them closer to $300k and Berry/Campbell seem good candidates to do that given they were rated highly enough by coaches to be in the R1 team and there are snippets of scoring potential to their games if they can just pull it together a few times.

Eyeing off a FWD rookie to trade in.
2 on the short list are both from the pies in Macrae & McCreery.
A bit of discussion above on Macrae, but any thoughts on McCreery?
Maybe Farrar (83) or Bosanevulagi (72) could be options? They are the two best averaging forwards under 200K (apart from Lewis, who I would avoid), both have only played 1 game this year though.

Never seen Jy Farrar play but apparently Dew was vocal in his praise so he looks safe for a few games

"Down by 10 goals, the coach used his half-time address to highlight the efforts of second-gamer Jy Farrar (21 disposals, eight marks) in a bid to get others to step up."

Plan is Lachie Jones but if he gets rested who would others pick. Might not know until sat night so I'm thinking Keane or Reid. Does Howe being injured help Keane? If we find out earlier what is Prior's job security like?
Hinkley always lets us know who’s playing in advance so we’ll know before Sat night whether Jones is playing.

Keane has been suspended for one match. Would want another look at Reid. Prior’s JS appears quite poor.

Farrer was excellent. He's a mature rookie (24) played entirely in defence and used the ball well. His role is great, his JS is good, his age is a plus, but the price is the issue. I am generally looking to generate more cash when downgrading, however given the complete lack of mid rookies on the horizon, I may have to take what I can get up fwd and down back, and then just upgrade in the middle.

Campbell already traded last week for me! Would hope Warner doesn't need a spell given he's a second year player, Gulden might be in danger for a rest. But I don't plan to keep either for too much longer anyway. Let upgrade season begin.
At least it is in a poistion where rookie depth is remotely existent.

Any particular reason why it took until round 5 for him to play if his JS is good?

I don't know a thing about him so am genuinely interested.

Fair question, but when the coach calls you out as an example of effort for the whole team to aspire to, after you rack up 21 possies and 7 score involvements from defence, I reckon that puts you a fair way in front of at least half a dozen others for a while.

To be fair to Horse, he's actually one of the best coaches at giving rookies extended runs in the firsts and hasn't been a "play guys in the reserves" coach. If they're good enough they play. Can see it with Florent, Rowbottom, Mills, Heeney, Mitchell, Gulden, Campbell and Warner and also going back to Lloyd, Parker and a few others.

His problem as a coach is very much at the other end of the talent spectrum where he wont play the best midfielders in the midfield and that's handcuffed us badly. Mitchell it costs us as a player with him playing forward pocket. Heeney is limited. Mills has finally gotten a chance. He's also had a habit of having more than a few "favourites" that are very limited players that he forces games into even when they haven't deserved them, mostly talking Cunningham and Hayward the last few years (finally found a role for Cunningham at least) but also spuds like Taylor, Clarke, Gray and a ton of others.

Farrar played very well. Mature aged and reminded me a lot of Nathan Wilson (Freo) in how he moves and plays, hopefully minus the ability to just disappear entirely. Found plenty of it and used it mostly well playing a nice defensive role in a team that's not strong by the looks. Would think with some of their injuries he should get a very good run at it and is definitely a very strong rookie option. Shame he's 180k or he'd be a lock.

Wish this guy was on the senior list

Adam Gulden
15 disposals, four tackles

"It was his first game as captain of the club and it's just great to have him on board. He directs everyone out there and is a great steady head. Has great skills on both sides of his game."

See you next year maybe.

Will Gould
11 disposals, two tackles

"He had a really strong game. He was strong in the contest and competed at a high level for four quarters. He needs to back it up and do it consistently to put his name up for senior selection"

Great to see this fella back.

Paddy McCartin
19 disposals, nine marks, two tackles

"Paddy was really pleasing. I know it was Round 1 but he played a solid game down back. It was so good to see him going for his marks and being strong in the contest. We had really good reports from the other back six."
