He could be, not many rookies score 118 in their second game, even the 58 in round one wasn't a bad score, however since then it's been pretty awful, reflected by decreasing tog and also more clangers. The issue is whether he is merely "managed" for a game or if it becomes two or three weeks out. Remember this is Longmire, he would keep Tom Mitchell in the NEAFL for months.
To be fair to Horse, he's actually one of the best coaches at giving rookies extended runs in the firsts and hasn't been a "play guys in the reserves" coach. If they're good enough they play. Can see it with Florent, Rowbottom, Mills, Heeney, Mitchell, Gulden, Campbell and Warner and also going back to Lloyd, Parker and a few others.
His problem as a coach is very much at the other end of the talent spectrum where he wont play the best midfielders in the midfield and that's handcuffed us badly. Mitchell it costs us as a player with him playing forward pocket. Heeney is limited. Mills has finally gotten a chance. He's also had a habit of having more than a few "favourites" that are very limited players that he forces games into even when they haven't deserved them, mostly talking Cunningham and Hayward the last few years (finally found a role for Cunningham at least) but also spuds like Taylor, Clarke, Gray and a ton of others.
I
Never seen Jy Farrar play but apparently Dew was vocal in his praise so he looks safe for a few games
"Down by 10 goals, the coach used his half-time address to highlight the efforts of second-gamer Jy Farrar (21 disposals, eight marks) in a bid to get others to step up."
Farrar played very well. Mature aged and reminded me a lot of Nathan Wilson (Freo) in how he moves and plays, hopefully minus the ability to just disappear entirely. Found plenty of it and used it mostly well playing a nice defensive role in a team that's not strong by the looks. Would think with some of their injuries he should get a very good run at it and is definitely a very strong rookie option. Shame he's 180k or he'd be a lock.
