I can't afford to trade him, but also can't afford to not trade him if the role isn't there. Not sure I understand what the thinking is. Will probably just hold and hope the coaching staff either comes to their senses or are sacked!
I'm not that thrilled about trading him. My team is going nowhere. I was hoping my premium mid would at least be a mid! I dont understand the coaching rationale but 5 games is enough evidence that he has a new role. He gets paid a lot of $ for that role?

This is exactly it. Sure, we can all just hold him and have everyone who doesn't have him tell us all we are breaking every rule by sideways trading a premium and that he'll eventually come good, and stand by your man etc. etc. Or, trust the numbers and what we've seen to date which clearly show, to me anyway, a role change that won't support an M8 position and move him on. I mean, maybe he goes back next week to a full time mid role but unless Cameron says this in a presser my gut says he looks to be spending 2021 as a lazy forward.

Only thing I worry about is Whitfield is due back soon, this could send Kelly back into the midfield.
I would expect Whitfield to play back.

Guess we look at the silver lining and have him first picked as an M/F in 2022 :cautious::rolleyes:.

I'm a non owner so I won't offer any unwanted advice ;) but from what I saw he actually played on the wing against Sydney. Not ideal I know, but it appeared to be a different role to previous weeks.

I was in the camp of trading out Kelly last week as it's hard for even talented players to outperform a crap role, at least in a fantasy sense. I know the DR Supercoach crew have also been recommending trading him out the past few weeks. Thankfully he only dropped 16K due some 4th qtr heroics as talented players can sometimes do.

Of course there's always the possibility he gets inserted back into the midfield but you really are at the whim of Cameron there. As I believe @wogitalia mentioned the Giants have had a winning formula the past fortnight so there is little incentive to change things up right now.

Also he's hardly a paragon of durability so if he does get injured at some point you may be trading out a guy who is sub $500K by that stage which will give you even less options for quality replacements.

He has a B/E of 128 which is not exactly monstrous for a premium player by any means. However for someone who hasn't gone over 100 once this season that will still be a tough ask so further cash leakage is likely to occur.

I think I'll trade Kelly, really don't have the trades if I was playing league but for overall I don't think I can carry him when it's obvious the role isn't there.

If it was form I'd probably keep.
I reckon ditch is probably the right call but I just can’t bring myself to do it. I’ll just upgrade around him and see if I have the opportunity to fix him around the byes.

I am hoping against hope he punches out another 200 odd ala rd 8 last year or rd 20 2018. Asking too much?

Can't stand the scores he's putting up. Lucky in a sense that he didn't get 75s last two weeks. Out for Macrae or Grundy for me.

It's Neale or Walsh for me this week - is Neale definitely back, or has he still got a problem with that...his back?
From reading the article below, I get the impression he still has a problem but he is nearly over it.

"Brutally honest" Neale on "debilitating" back issue that's held him back (sen.com.au)
........Neale believes he is starting to return to his best .........he was back to his best in Brisbane’s 57-point win over Essendon,........... "A step in the right direction but I’ve got to back it up now......... Neale says he is starting to return to normal programming during the week.........“I’m getting better every week definitely in terms of pain and last week I was able to do training basically for the first time in a while,”........“I’ve still got some recovery to go, but I’m feeling a lot better than a few weeks ago so I think I’m over the hump.” .......

He's numbers last week and round 1 were not too bad, 26 disposals so he's still finding it, such a line ball call the closer I look into it but it's like CD don't have him in their team this year.
