For those without the seagull Lloyd like me
How important do you think he is as an upgrade?
After bringing Oliver in this week
I have 37k in the bank
ideally next week
I want to do
Warner/gulden to Neale and f Macrae
But if Neale goes big and the chad/gulden score badly I’ll fall short
would Lloyd be a good in? Or should I target another mid. It’s all about who I can afford and I always like to finish my mids first as they score the most bar Gawn and Grundy

I just don’t see Lloydy in the must have category this season at least just yet. There are a few reasons for this, that have been mentioned here over the past few weeks, such as largely losing kick-in duties to Dawson.

But bottom line until we see that 130+ ceiling as in previous seasons I wouldn’t make him a priority trade in. He’s probably still a top 6 DEF but he really isn’t hurting non owners at his current price like a Dunkley or Ridley were.

So I would hold off for now and just watch him slowly leak cash then decide later in the season if and when to grab him.

In DT I’m actually looking at saving coin and going Stewart instead this week even though I could afford Lloyd.

I have Lloyd and he’s been solid but not hurt non owners to date. Some great value in defense about round 8 with Ridley, May, Daniel and Houston all bottoming out and from what we’ve seen from Lloyd so far i’m not sure he’s going to be that far on average on those listed to make him a clear must have.

Depending on how the rookie cash train rolls I may even sideways one of my current premium defender (Short perhaps) to one of the above for a cash grab.

Here’s to hoping I can afford Neale who is an extra captaincy option

As I say priority 1 is Neale next week
All about bank though
feel the same regarding Lloyd his hurt factor isn’t there. Consistency is though. Safe 105 guy

Neale the ability to average 125 from here. Hoping I can get him to add to Macrae Oliver Bont zerett and titch

Not sure about that off the back of one game against Ess
If he goes sub 100 I can then wait an extra week after that to see if his form is back

That’s the major reason I’m getting Oliver this week over Neale. If Neale goes 120 though unfortunately I can’t afford him as it’ll be the lowest his price will be all year. Here’s to hoping he gets 98 and gulden and Warner go nuts!

see how it pans out at the end of the season lloyd has proven he will score all year long a lot of these up and comers have to show us they can and atm im not convinced they can be it injury or suspension. lloyd will be a top 3 def which honestly makes him a must have to me you going to drop a def that can av 110ish for a potential 7-12 def that will be in the 90ish av or possibly less? Personally the only one I’d consider is Ridley out that group and he’s out this week with concussion ain’t he and the will have a couple of likely price drops. Never been keen on may or Houston and Daniels roll seems to have changed a bit from last year when he scored decent need some more evidence I suggest

What to do with that fraud Phillips? I've been wanting to dump him for weeks now but have to keep putting out other spotfires.
The only thing I'd note there is that in theory the fixture opens up for him from here on in until the byes.
Whether that is enough to justify the hold or it's better to just cut bait and convert him to a Neale / Oliver type now, very hard to say.
Leaning hold thru byes.

He was my path to Ridley after Rd2 so I ditched him fairly quickly once I saw a fortnight of what he was dishing up. I now can't imagine him finishing anywhere near a top 10 FWD especially in SC with his less than stellar disposal efficiency and with Hawthorn being a bottom 4 contender. In fact he's not even in the top 60 FWDs by average right now! Cash gen opportunities also look fairly close to non existent either.

That said this weekend's game down in Tassie vs Crows could really suit him so I'd probably give him another game. Hawks seem to play well down there and it might be bit of a bounce back game for some, if not most, of Titch, Wingard, CJ, Impey and Phillips and their owners. Well let's hope so anyway.

But if he fails to deliver there then gods knows when he will ever ton up to o***et some of these poorer scores he delivered in Rds 2&5. So I would then have no hesitation chopping him whenever the opportunity best suits your own side and other trade targets you may have.

One positive is he should hold his value fairly well and continue to average in the 70-80 range so he really isn't a priority trade out - just another failed midpricer for fantasy purposes.

Only thing I worry about is Whitfield is due back soon, this could send Kelly back into the midfield.
Would the Giants put Whitfield up forward or is he required down back this season? We know that the giants play him all over the place.
Is there any real indication he is just filling the Whitfield role at the moment?

One Dawson injury or role change from going at 130, I'd still be getting him ASAP.

Id be surprised if Whitfield didn't play down back, especially with their lack of experience in defence right now, it's essentially a bunch of kids running the ball out of the back half.

So Giants start losing and Jelly goes back to the midfield?
I was talking more about playing Mumford. But maybe? Probably not. He seems to be organizing magnets according to color at times. 🤔

Anyone got an "eye test" opinion on Atu Bosenavulagi? He's only a 1 week rookie, but I'd be looking for a forward this week rather than next, and his more mature age + 72 this week + the fact he plays for North who traded for him appeals a little over McCreery's pair of 50s even though McCreery is on the bubble.

I just have no idea if he can actually play?!?
Afl stats pro normally has a small highlights package.

This week, Dangerfield to Gawn and Fullarton to Jones.

Holding Dangerfield certainly cost me a lot of points, but at least gave me the cash for the Gawn move this week.

After starting all rookie ruck lineup have totally unwound that experiment and now field Gawndy.I have used 8 trades but it needed to be done.

Note to ones self - never start a season without at least one of Gawn or Grundy, preferably both !

The Merrett trade is one i would take back as that cost me 2 trades for no return and a world of pain with Butters, I might also have avoided Waterman.

Anyways, onwards and upwards.

He's numbers last week and round 1 were not too bad, 26 disposals so he's still finding it, such a line ball call the closer I look into it but it's like CD don't have him in their team this year.
Kinda how I feel about Gaff at the moment. 38 disposals for a 110 just doesn't cut it for me. Biggest issue for Gaff (and probably Jelly as well) is he's not getting enough contested footy or is not being rewarded for what he's getting. He had 12cps against the Pies so clearly CD aren't rating him.

Eagles are currently the second highest kicking side and ranked number one for marks per game. Unfortunately not even this volume is enough to translate to decent scores for Gaff and so far he's only scored well at Optus. The Eagles are also ranked 18th for tackles

I'm tempted to move him up to Walsh or Neale this week as the cash from a downgrade of Dow / Campbell won't be sufficient to secure a viable upgrade of a rookie on any line.

Gaff is super durable and an elite athlete with great TOG but without the consistency of decent scores, he's not delivering as a premo.

Incidentally, I never would have picked this but the side currently ranked number one for kicks per game and second for marks is Gold Coast!

I think the underlooked reason that after declaring for 5 years that I didn't rate him and stubbornly refusing to put him in my team, this year I decided that I had to swallow my pride,l and spent the dollars to get him in.

I'm sorry everyone.
