Mansell should be a safe pick for anyone who was planning on getting Jones.
Scoring is a bit ordinary, but should hold his spot.

Currently playing Broad's regular role, while Broad fills in for the missing Vlastuin.

Balme earlier in the week on a Tigs podcast said that "Prestia is 2 weeks away and Vlastuin probably still 5".

In a perfect world you get on Mansell now, and turn him into Jones when he returns in 4-5 weeks.

I'll be trading him in, but I'll be hoping that Highmore returns so I have a better field option that's for sure.

Interesting post SS, I am now seriously considering him. Given he is only $102k, that would allow me to get Walsh this week, and Titch next week.

Mansell might have to be it for a rookie downgrade option now with not a lot of alternatives. He is not scoring how I wanted, that's for sure, sub 50 average.

Ironically the main reason I didn't go early on Jones last week was that I had gone early on Robertson the week before (instead of Chapman on the bubble) - I learned my lesson as that failed miserably, he won't be back any time soon. I sucked it up and went a week late on Chapman instead of a week early on Jones - it might have cost me some cash, but touch wood still looks the right option of the two.

Thanks for that. I really need a cheap defender to make things work this week.
Although Jones is now looking like an avoid. Already had 2 problems in 5 rounds.

Mansell looked a fair bit better last week, but no Tigers defenders we going to score well in that one way game.

Think he can score better, but by no means a world beater.

One of the first rules is to never go early, still remember when Josh Glenn fooled everyone.
Even after Jones this week people are still considering Baby Macrae this week. Crazy.

I think Jones out strengthens paying up 158k for bergman with potential for decent on field scoring. I can trade Clark to Bergman if he misses again via fantasia to D5

The Mansell info is great thanks @Seymour Skinner i will keep him in mind too
I think instead of Jones/Oliver I might have to go Stewart/Bergman

Not the worst consolation prize I suppose

Depends on the player though. Jones looked solid both games. So it wasn't a bad move to go early with the info we had at the time. An injury is just unlucky. Same scenario with Ridley. Many traded him out, gets injured.

Not the first time Hipwood has taken out guys with his errant elbow, (or a boot to the face). Thought the head was sacrosanct.

"Brisbane Lions star Eric Hipwood was another player to avoid a suspension, earning a $2000 fine for a careless elbow to Jake Lloyd’s head, with Christian grading the incident as careless conduct with low impact to the head."

Yeah I agree, I traded him in early on form/JS because IMO I thought he'd be much better value than my other rookie downgrade option in Waterman. Just **** luck - like holding Dangerfield for 3 weeks and trading Ridley in also, injuries is majority of time just **** luck. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Thoughts on the best of these options?

Option A:
Logan Mc > Finlay MacRae
Taranto > Neale

Option B:
Logan Mc > Finlay MacRae
B.Campbell > Bergman
Next week - Gulden > Neale

Jones out means Mansell is the next (best) option downgrade wise (plus coverage in DEF for Ridley)

Campbell, McNeil > Mansell, Duncan (just short on using H Jones as a trade out)

At least we know he’s a viable trade in proposition when Chapman and/or any rookies are ready for culling in a month’s time. Just be annoying for those that went on him a week early.
