Hope nobody went early on Rantall last week :-

View attachment 29259

Feel sorry for the kid, gets played as a deep fwd on debut when he is a natural wingman - poor by Bucks.

At least Macrae looks set for a 3rd game, hopefully he gets some more midfield time this week but who knows with Bucks .....
So De Goey, Keane, Poulter and somebody else in. Possibly Mayne?

I will be reliant on two of Scott, McNeil, Mansell, Waterman, Berry. If all are out, then I’m stuffed.....
A fair bit riding on the Swans and Crows team announcement for me tomorrow night.

McNeil missing is a real pain, as it now exposes me to a donut in the worst case scenario result for Crows/Swans in needing at least one of Berry, Rowe, Gulden or Campbell to be named.

Mansell holding is not only handy for some cash generation, but I can at least swing Laird to the MIDs if need be and take Mansell in DEF rather than loop him and Kosi if it comes down to it.

Hawks to be going in tall this week.

Gunston returns, Emerson Jeka to debut, and Maginness into the 22.

Burgoyne and O'Meara (groin - precautionary) the known outs at the moment.

No word yet on who the other out/sub.
That is massive GG. TOB will be a defender for sure. Missing Omeara is massive though.

Huge reliance on Titchell this week.

So if Mcneil is the sub? Do we just have to trade him soon? Pretty lucky he got on ground early last week and salvaged a 50, but probably looking at a 20 if he actually plays, which is going to destroy his cash generation.

Hopefully "managed" means no sub tho
Was "managed" last week too. Was surprised he was the sub.

"Managed" last week meant sub, so not sure it will change this week. Fair chance he's the sub again you'd think.

At least we know prior to the round starting, and get another 5 games worth of team announcements before having to lock in this weeks trades.

I think you can probably afford to hold for one more if he is the sub, his BE is 20 so won't drop too much even if he doesn't get much of a look at it. After that though he'd probably be cooked.

Fair enough, hoping for one of Poulter/RCD/Worrell to come through to provide some relief for Mcneil

I feel that clubs that 'manage' players by making them the injury sub aren't understanding the full rortability of the rule change...

Adelaide and Lynch last weekend was the total opposite of what should be done. I mean they didn't even understand how to pick a player to be an injury sub who isn't already injured!

Chris Scott gets it - use the rule to troll the **** out of Supercoach players ;)

"But my tips" was just a quick comment they made when they discussed this on AFL 360 the other night.

The main argument was that it takes away from the build-up and discussion about the upcoming weekends games. People used to enjoy getting the teams on a Thursday, and then could discuss all day Friday leading into the weekend with their mates and work colleagues who was in and who was out and who was going to win because of the team changes. Friday newspapers could also run their articles with talk about the games whilst knowing the teams.

Without Thursday Teams... There is a significant drop-off in chatter and buzz leading into the weekends games. I'm sure the AFL would rather the chatter and buzz, and people talking about the games.

Why don't they have all teams named on a Thursday inc Sunday. The 18 named on field must play (unless they break a leg etc). The four I/C can be switched with the 4 emg up to one hour before the game when the bench and sub must be named. At least then we get some idea if a player is likely to play by being named on the field or just in the mix. Then the press can talk about the teams with at least some idea of what is going on.

Has the AFL actually said why they haven't gone back this year to naming the Teams on Thursdays? Was it just that the AFL clubs prefer it, or is there another reason?
