Still holding Highmore. How much long should he be held? Just know the week I trade him he will be back.
I will only trade him if facing an otherwise unavoidable donut. Very rare that a sideways trade of a basement rookie is worth it at this time of year.

He can live out a happy retirement at D8 for the season for all I care.

Who is everyone moving on?

Noticed Warner up the list for some, does have a good run coming up.
If he goes 85 av up until their bye he'll only make another ~ $60k, that's over 5 rounds. 85 is probably the top end of his projection, even given his awesome role and the probability he does have a spike game in him with that draw. His possession getting has really tapered off in recent weeks.

The FWD stocks are very thin but he's obviously not a keeper - an optimistic $60k over 5 rounds isn't a slow burn, its a barely burning smoky smoulder, especially when you consider Poulter could make that just this week.

To be fair, I don't think anyone's holding Warner expecting him to be a keeper - he's just scoring reliably better than all the other FWD rookies. Even at 70 he's losing what, 25 to a keeper? That compares favourably with Powell even if he continues to go 80-90.

Mind you I'm personally happy enough with Bergman and Scott's recent form that I'm probably happy to take the cash and upgrade. Just a question of where. Been giving serious thought to Libba but R13 is a huge mess for me already and I don't want to make it worse. Probably stick to the original plan and go to J Cameron.

Need to dump the deadwood

OUT Highmore, F. Macrae
IN Brynes via Sharp, Poulter
What are you achieving with these trades?

Are you generating cash for your next upgrade? Are you gaining points from the upgrade?

Sideways trades are incredibly wasteful at this time of the year, you're effectively setting yourself back an entire week on an upgrade to get two guys whose job security is at best "currently better" than the guys you're trading, from the same teams. Bad game from Poulter and it could easily be Poulter out Macrae in next week.

Have to think you've got guys that are nearly peaked that would make more sense or something else that can be done?

Really the only reason I'd be looking that way right now is if you avoid donuts this round by doing it.

It looks like Mason Redman (6) has taken over Ridley (3) as the #1 kick-in taker. I'm not sure whether that will continue, but I'm now happy to wait a week on Ridley and use this week to double downgrade. Would like to see Ridley go back to dominating kick-ins before bringing him in as I think that was a big factor in his high early-season scores.
I reckon it has as much to do with Ridley being glued to Greene for most of the game, was a pretty strong shut down role he copped and makes sense, Greene is that super unique matchup that really only Ridley fits, he's too smart for the Laverde/Francis combo, too "big" for Hind/Redman and too quick for Heppell. There's maybe one or two other guys in the league where that's the case.

Though worth watching, Redman did a pretty good job but Ridley will generally still be the loose man instead of the lockdown guy and is a class above most defenders. Great value for those who didn't start him right now.

Can someone talk me out of trading Luke Ryan and Highmore out for May and Darcy Moore (or even Harmes) to avoid two donuts in the backline?

Would be the fourth week in a row of copping donuts and it’s doing my head in.

Hahaha my prediction is Highmore will win the grand final league for someone with 100+ in 10 or so weeks.

I’d stay away from Darcy Moore - playing DEF against North isn’t exactly what he’ll be up against weekly

What Defender lineup are you running?

So pondering these trades for Rd 9

Chapman to RCD or Byrnes via Sharp

Gulden to Jelly or Hall

Current Mids Macrae Guthrie Walsh Fyfe Titchell Powell Jordon Gulden

Current Fwds Ziebell Zorko Daniher Heeney Scott Poulter

The questions.

Is RCD a better option than Byrne? And is Hall a better option than Jelly given the fwd line carnage? $198k cash pre trades

Looking at Jelly and Hall because they fit the current Rd 12 bye set up for my team best.

We all have a raft of stalled rookies that may or may not play again. As better players than me have said, hold 'em. Sell our maxed out first wave for those that appear to be good for cash generation. If you haven't at least the hope of cash generation, you are dead for upgrades. 2c

I think I’ll double down this week: Cox/Berry to Poulter/RCD (who’s js seemed to firm luckily for the coaches who brought him in last week!). Puts some money in the bank, leaves me with 20 trades, 6 on field rookies, plus Luko and Dusty as potential upgrades down the track.
