Have brought in Lipinski and I would prefer Macrae to get a good season in the midfield role. Has added a few kilos in the off season and loooks ready for the challenge.
Have you got macrae in your squad atm? 200k you want him to score better than daicos.

Thoughts on L Ryan as a starting pick?
For the price and given he average 95 in the last half of the season after going 105 would suggest wait and see. Just tends to throw up some low scores.

Whitfield V's Maynard?

Both are underpriced given that Maynard is training with the mids (could that affect Crisp's scoring?) Whit's advantage is DPP status which could be handy, counterbalanced by his durability.
Whitfield at least has an injury hit game, although seems to be injured every year due to his light frame.

Is there an article on him doin midfield training or was he just wanting to make the move?
Maynard talked about wanting to play more mid time, maybe doing some training however no concrete info yet he is full time or significantly lift in mid time.
Very Interested in Maynard as the Pies are gonna need all the help they can get thru the middle.
But I will want to see him playing mids in the scratch matches/pre season games before I jump on. Talk is cheap.
De Goey is back and look very fit.
What’s peoples thoughts on Cripps? Is he over burnt me bad last year.
Unlikely for most. Would need to have confirm no injuries and what exactly hurt him last year is behind him.

Should get the majority of the kick in also. Reckon he is undervalued and will be the main distrubute off the back line.
Round 20 - Short 9 KI and 7 play ons, from 13 kick ins in total (4 other players took one each).

Round 21 -23 - Vlastuin is back as is Rioli.

Short 4/4, 4/3, 3/2
Vlastuin 4/4, 3/3, 3/2
Grimes 1/1, 1/0
Rioli 2/2, 2/2
Miller 1/0.

Maybe not a given, does the small chip kick out continue in 2022. Think several team will be changing structure of their games, Eagles will move away from kick and chip game. I wonder if kick outs when you have so many players in the D50, do you take more risk coming out to get over the wall, with a long kick out.

M6 between Macrae or Constable. Watching Berry.
Diacos, lot of hype around the Kid, he will get smashed if he lines up on the ball.
The talk is he runs off HB.?

Wait n see for me, Tarrant could affect the kickins, Rioli and Stack could pinch some of the distribution, Dimma is well known for wanting attacks to be initiated from defence.

Rioli is the one i expect to fill the Houli roll, taking the return kicks away from Short i cannot see hapening. Pre season awaits.

Hi everyone! Can't believe another season is only a few months away!

Lots to think about regarding the early drafts/teams/players but one thing I'm fairly certain of is the rucks combination.
I mean...it'll go something like this below :D
1. Grundy + Darcy (if @Connoisseur starts Gawn :p)
2. Grundy + Gawn (if @Connoisseur hopefully stays away from Big Maxy )

p.s. Great to see this thread active. Thanks all for the insights!
Welcome back and kudos for paying attention to my frequent Gawn updates over the past few seasons. You will be relieved to know I am currently not interested in Gawn as a starting selection. Although, there is plenty of time to go before the season starts and this could be an elaborate bait and switch that will not be revealed until the 17th of March.

Tricky one. Rioli depends on the "new" role he has and how successful he is at it. CJ and Sinclair are awkwardly priced. If Day is fit he might impact on CJ. @Goodie's Guns or @Ironhawk may be able to give a better idea of that. Should the question be which one is the best value? I am not convinced by Rioli but if he can be successful in his new role he would only need to ave 85-90 to be the best out of the three for mine. Simply because you can take the 120-130k his selection gives you over the others and use it elsewhere to improve another pick and get an extra 15-20 points that way.

Too early to say for me. I think ideally both will work fine together, but it's a combo of a new coach and that the serious pre-season training hasn't begun yet that I can't get a good idea of their individual roles. If I had to guess at this stage, I'd say CJ plays as an intercept defender, and is hopefully linking it up with Day at times who I would like to see playing more on a wing this year. I think both would be in the same team in some role rather than competing for the same spot, just not sure what roles yet.

There does seem multiple players capable of playing that intercept type role in defence for the Hawks though, especially adding Sicily on top of what we saw last year. They can't all do it. CJ is one of the better runners in the club, so he may even be one to end up further up the ground this year.

Ask me in a month or so and I'll have more idea.

Edit: Forgot to mention both CJ and Day had a lighter start to pre-season prior to Christmas due to their injuries in 2021, their training load will be ramped up when training begins again next week.

Assuming it's not an elaborate bait and switch....

Then...

Given the uncertainty on rucks, should we be considering Reeves, with Ceglar now gone as a stepping stone.

Saw his pricing on one of the other threads at $350k , given his 82 average

Is Max Lynch a real threat?

I think Reeves and Lynch will be the two main rucks for the Hawks this year, sharing the load based on training before Christmas. McEvoy will probably still play games and be there as backup if one struggles (seeing as he is captain), but I wouldn't be surprised if he takes less/minimal ruck contests this season, he hasn't been seen much training with the other rucks yet.

Could be completely wrong, they may have just been giving McEvoy a bit of a lighter load pre Christmas to keep him fresher. Wouldn't surprise me.

If that is the case, I'd prefer Reeves to Lynch as the #1 ruck, I think he is the better ruck of the two at this stage. Doubt they would use three rucks along with their other talls in every game though. I'd say Lynch would be the one more likely to drop out if they did drop one, and Reeves should play most games.

Again, like my last post, it is still too early to say. Reeves is one ruck I am strongly considering at this stage, but not sure of value elsewhere to lock him in as a starter until I get a chance to see all prices. I think he's likely underpriced, but not sure if it is by enough to use as a stepping stone, or if I just stick with two gun rucks.

Liam Baker at Richmond is he a defender or forward this season, he coukd average more than these blokes, thoughts
Richmond are not a high possession team. My opinion apart from dusty and short (95-100ave) there is no SuperCoach irrelevant players. I think there are better options than baker @ 450k I would be taking Sicily over him.

In a keepers league, what will he average and likely position?

If he was taller he would play ruck as well. I think he will play forward with a run through the midfield.
