Whilst he is not on my list, I wouldn't say no either. Had a lift on 2020 which everyone thought he would revert given the longer quarters. As he progressed from his two ACL's, Eagles have more confidence in his body hence the longer minutes played on the ground. In particular he had
92, 93, 100 minutes in the last three games, whereas he had lots of 70's and 80 min games earlier on. May be the issue is they will only let him off the leash when the season is on the line.

Age is a bit of factor they worries me and whilst many may point to Dean Cox doing well in his 30's, NN is a big boy which can strain his body.

See below why I wouldn't count him out totally. Can say in league finals Ai was worried about playing someone with NN when I had Grundy.

Gawn - look at CBA in the finals, 59 and 62% when he had 70s and 80% earlier in the season. yes, he had some 60's and one 62%, yes he can still do well, however, the risk everyone is raised with Luke getting better is genuine, just hard to price the impact. wouldn't surprise me if Gawn regressed 5-10 pts this year, although, have more faith in him than Grundy.

Grundy - terrible end to season, mental issues, has now lost kgs and hopefully no more lockdowns. New coach. lots of variables.

Darcy - looks the best of the lot, young and still progressing, although has more injury issue tags than Gawn and Grundy.

Dont think rucks is a easy decision this year. Was plenty of risk on the rookies last year if you went them R2, this year it is the premiums it feels like.

I saw a comment also from a player saying JDG has come back in great shape, although, no confirmation he is training with the group that I can see.
Great feedback

Every season people say pick dunks but he not always going to stay on the park for a full season
It's a lot easier to start with him and trade him out when he's injured vs trying to pay top dollar when he's killing it, only to have him get injured and need to trade him out.

Same thing applies for Whitfield, even more so with him.

Usually by this time an AFL site has bought out a early prediction of every teams best 22.
Last one I can find is from October.

Thoughts on Witts? Discounted by circa $120-150k, akward price at $380 however rucks dont feel predictable this year.
Low or sub $300,000 would have been very interesting but I would much prefer to spend the cash on the likes of Marshall, English and McInerney. Hard to predict which matchups Witts can take advantage of to warrant a starting selection as well as recording enough hitouts to advantage.

The Team is back to the serious stuff on Monday.

Pendlebury will be the distrubuter off HB when he is back, early doubt the Captain is ready for round 1.

I expect Jack to go back to his prevous role of running it out of defence. last season it was a case of no options for the role. Reliable selection but i cannot see him improving "scorewise" 2022 season. Lipinski has arrived and Macrae has has a good off season increasing both his frame and endurance.

I expect the back lne to move the ball faster this year. Maybe a shock omissions come round 1.

@GrainFedBeef or @lavenderbandit can Willie Rioli ave 85-90 this year?
Possible, although only has that history in his last few games. If eagles move to a faster ganeplan I would expect this plays to his strengths. Would need midfield time like he had end of 2019.

Out of the game for a long time however sounds like he is training hard. I dont have access to the west so not across the latest training nees.

I think there would be a pretty strong case for not picking him if there were other good forward options who were very durable.

But the other main premium/breakout options are Duncan (not super injury prone, but quite old, so he could easily get injured at some point) and Taranto (fairly durable, but big question mark over his position), Heeney (injury prone), De Goey (who knows), and then we can lock in Butters and Conigs. So unless there are 6 good forward rookies, we sort of need at least one premium.

Even if there's only a 5% chance if plays every game, if he does he'll probably average 120, and that makes him a pretty good pick in expectation. But I also don't think he's much better than Duncan or Taranto, so I don't think he's an absolute must have.

Not sure I understand the love for Milera. He had one back half off a season where he scored well but only averaged 79 for the season and followed it up with a 74 average. At 271K it seems like he'll make 100k if all goes well coming back from injury, doesn't seem worth the investment to me.

I think we are gonna need a mid priced player at D5 simply because I think there will be a lack of rookies. I know it’s early so hopefully im wrong and there are 5 or 6 we can choose from.
I would rather take a punt on bowey or Coleman over Milera.

I guess if there's a genuine absence then we could be forced to pick him but I think there will be enough premium and rookie options that he's not required

My new draft with English at R2 has ended up giving me Sicily at D5, almost without me realizing it, so I guess that’s an option if required!

Yeah, I find they're not really worth the 'paper' they're written on... teams not the least bit settled at the margins. I find it writes off fringe players who I should keep open to.

Yes agreed, and he could even be thrown forward at times.

There's also the option of just going with 5 defender premiums, and getting more forward rookies, of which 5-6 usually pop up for round 1.

Or Marchbank should average around 70, but not a huge fan given I don't think his JS is too flash.
